Presser Contest Winner and Guest Interview

Submitted by MGoShoe on

MGoBlog.com has a nice feature on the student who won the slot at today's Hoke Intro Presser.

Civil engineering student CJ Lilly was the winner and he brought along his friend and 2010 Michigan graduate James Stanhope.  There was some good Q&A including:

Would you call yourself a big Michigan fan?

Lilly: Well, I sit front row for all the basketball games and we had row one for football games this year. I went to four of the five away games this year. I've been there. We follow all Michigan sports, so if there's a Michigan sport doing well I'll follow up on it. We were at the Michigan basketball game one night and the men's soccer team was playing for a shot at the Final Four. We got home and I found the online video feed and we watched the overtime when Michigan scored. We were cheering like crazy. We're happy when any Michigan team does well.

Where do you get most of your news about Michigan athletics?

Lilly: I read MGoBlog and my dad has a subscription to The Wolverine. We hear a lot of stuff through the grapevine.

Stanhope: I'll read ESPN if I'm feeling lazy.

What about MGoBlue.com?

Lilly: I go there for highlights and schedules. I don't go there for opinion, but I go there for facts. You know when MGoBlue says this is our new head coach, you know this is our new head coach.

Stanhope: Before the season started I religiously followed the Countdown to Kickoff videos. It's from the program giving you a look into the program, which is great.

Nice how the interviewer had to tease out some MGoBlue.com praise, but in reality, Lilly and Stanhope were spot on with their answers. Glad these guys got to experience this event.

Hoke had me fired up, clapping in my Kitchen. I could only imagine how fired up I would of been sitting there in that press room. When he walked off and said go blue I would of stood and applauded Haha.

...the good name of CJ Lilly!  It turns out that Greg at MVictors.com scored an interview with him yesterday and the second question was:

MVictors: So how long did it take to write the script that entered your name in the contest six million times?

Lilly: [Laughs].  I actually only entered it once.   I was sitting in class and entered it on my phone, really not paying too much attention to Reinforced Concrete Design. [laughs]

Hey I am actually CJ Lilly.  It was a great press conference, and no I did not write any code for the competition.  Brady Hoke was simply inspiring today and after listening to him I dont think he could have done better today.  I am really excited for the future.

No I am not Lloyd Brady, but I am one of the guys who wears the camo at basketball games.
