Prediction for rest of season

Submitted by Magga Saraivah on

So, I think we need a distraction from all the Fire Everyone posts.  Here is my gut feel on how  the rest of the season will play out.  You may not like the End. I don't either. Feel free to disagree:

11-1-14:
We beat Indiana 31-28. Devin looks good against the offensive Indiana defense.  Our record edges up to 4-5.  The best highlights shown by ESPN are the students all wearing #fireBrandon t-shirts.  Hoke says he feels happy for the kids.  They worked hard for this win.

11-8-14
Tough road trip to Evanston.  The Wildcats are motivated when they rememeber last year's last minute win on a FG.  We all know how well Hoke prepares for a road game. The Wildcats win 28-21.  Our record drops to 4-6.  Hoke says the kids will go back to work this week and focus on winning the rest of their games.

11-22-14:
Maryland comes to town.  They are pumped to play in the Big House.  Unfortuantely, the Big House is only 80% full. The announced attendance is 104,887.  The team plays hard but the season has worn on them.  Maryland looks like a completely different team then the one Wisconsin curb stomped.  Terps win 27-24 when Michigan misses 2 field goals.  Record drops to 4-7. Hoke says we are all dissapointed.  He needs to coach better, but kids will now focus on our biggest rival.

11-29-14:                                                                                                                           Team travels to Columbus.  Buckeye fans dig up their old "We Love Rich Rod" posters and white out Rich Rod's name and replace it with Hoke's. Before the game, Team plants a pitchfork on the big O as a show of unity.  Urban Meyer ends up planting a pitchfork in Hoke's ass.  Buckeyes win 42-21.  Two of the scores are on picked off JT Barrett passes. Hoke apologizes for the interceptions during his post game press conference.  Season ends at 4-8.  When asked about his job status, Hoke replies "well..stuff like that you cant worry about.  Its about the kids and the ability to execute with physicallity".

12-1-14:
Atletic Department releaes a statement that Dave Brandon has announced his resignation.:When the press contacts Brady Hoke he says "well..I'm not fully aware of any resignations, but I am partially aware".  MgoBlog "bad gateway errors" make it impossible to post new AD search rumors.

12-8-14:
Michigan announces the hiring of Uconn AD Warde Manuel as Brandon's replacement.   Says "he has not yet made a decision on Hoke's status and needs further time for evaluation".  This is the kiss of death.

Early January 2015:
Brady Hoke announces his "resignation". He restates his love for Michigan and says that the decision was all his and he feels he was too much of a distraction to the Kids. Coincidentally, this coincides with the buy out reduction of $1 million in Hoke's contract. Warde Manuel says the buy out did not come into paly and that the decision was all Hoke's.

Warde Manuel announces the promotion of Doug Nussmeier as interim Head Coach and says he will be given a full shot at the position.  The coaching search commences.  Flight Tracker goes wild....

2-2-15:
The day after the SuperBowl.  Miami Dolphins fire their Head Coach.  A  few days later a blockbuster trade is announced with the 49'ers that sends Jim Harbaugh to the Dolphins. Dolphins also announce that Dave Brandon has been hired as VP-Marketing.  Brandon & Harbaugh get to work work together after all.  Commence Mgoblog suicide alert..

2-6-15:
AD Warde Manuel announces that Doug Nussmeier has been signed to a 4 year contract for $4 million per year.  He states that he is a great young mind with the passion to lead the Wolverines to success.

TO BE CONTINUED......

If you had to put significant money (for you, whether that might be) on the outcome of the next 4 games, you would really go with 2-2? There is no way I would predict 2-2 as the most likely, I think the most likely outcome is 1-3. Second most likely is... either 0-4 or 2-2, and I'd probably say... Hoke totally loses the team and it goes 0-4. This team is completely Hokes making, and it is awful.

We're going to win the next three games, which will be the most awkward/conflicted winning streak ever for the fanbase.  But just when you wonder if Hoke is going to survive, we'll lose to OSU by double-digits and he's fired the following week.

Fred Jackson gets to coach the bowl as the new coach isn't hired until January.

Nuss's a legit developer of QBs.  It usually takes him two years to do so.  Furthermore, I am not sure Devin is someone Nuss would be a good fit with in any event.  This is why I don't get the 'they don't develop players' mantra.  Nussmeier and Mattison are PROVEN commodities.  Youth has a lot to do with our problems.  Except for Gardner and Funch, almost every starter (and most of the backups) on offense will be here TWO years from now.  A lot of these mistakes are the types of mistakes I expect young players to make.  I cannot think of another team that has that much youth across the board.  It should not be a surprise that we are not good on offense.  The coaches shouldn't get a pass for the bad calls they've made, but most of MSUs players come into their own during their junior or RS junior year.  The occasional exceptional underclassmen is surrounded by experienced players.  The experienced players can help out and the coaches can devote more attention to the few 'special' underclassmen.  The Sparty develops players and we don't mantra is unproven.  It is clear they do develop talent.  It is not clear that UM does not develp talent b/c the players are too young to tell.  Call it 'the youth excuse' if you want, but its a fact.

This is Hoke's fourth year. That means the junior class is all his and old enough to prove themselves as B1G level quality . Please point out the juniors on this team that are in the running for first, second, or third team all B1G. The team was young last year. They are experienced this year and they are playing worse. I don't even want to think about what this team looks like when they lose Clark, Beyer, Ryan, and Taylor from the defense.

I'd say we win 1 more game, probably next week. Brandon is fired, Hoke is fired. We have a shot at Jim harbaugh but he ends up staying in Oakland to coach the raiders. John harbaugh ends up getting the gig in mid to late January.

I honestly don't care anymore this season.  On top of being a UM fan Im a diehard Bears fan and that play pictured above pretty much sums up the UM and Bears seasons.  I get the perspective of a lot of posters to support the team but what good does it do when they will probably finish with 3 wins and the same anemic coach and AD will probably still be retained.  If Michigan was serious about it ateast fire Hoke and Brandon now, name Nuss the intermic HC and go from there. Im pretty sure every recruit via their parents knows Hoke is gone so its not like you're salvaging a class by keeping Hoke through the season and then canning him.  Atleast by canning him now and naming someone like Nuss ine interim you have some kind of continuity through the season and with the recruits and time to throw a truckload of money at the Miles and Harbaughs of the world totry and sway them in time to agree and hopefully retain something of a recruiting class.

I don't know.  I was on the bandwagon last year.  Eveyone made Trestman out to be the quarterback whisperer but that it would take a year or two in the offense.  Coming in to this seaon all the so called "experts" made it sound like 'Cutler would make that proverbial leap in decision making since they gave him everyting he wanted in terms of Marshall, offensive line, Forter, Jeffery, offensive minded heach coach, etc etc.  I honestly thought he would change for the better.  What Im seeing and I thing the brutal reality is for any Bears fan is that Cutler will always be a gunslinger without the good decision making of someone like a Brett Favre.  I really liked the Trestman hire initially but I'm starting to wonder if there wasn't a reason he hasn't been an NFL head coach previously given his track record.  I also do not like some of the signings in hind sight like Jared Allen.  You're paying him big money for what, like one sack so farand he's old?  I really wish I would have grown up a Browns fan as I live in Ohio.  Atleast they go into every seaon not expecting anything and then when something good happens they're excited and when they suck they just accept it.  As a Bears fan, you realize you're going to go 8-8, 9-7. or 10-6 every year, just to have your heart ripped out because they miss the playoffs on the last game of they year every year.

We enter THE GAME at 5-6. Devin has one of his miracle games but we lose by 3-5 points. That's the only fitting ending I see to this season.

Then, after our Harbaugh/Miles dreams are gashed, we end up with a left field hire of Bronco Mendenhall or somebody similar.

Hell, I have no clue. I'm numb at this point.

You have Michigan scoring more than 20 in every game. That's extremely unlikely since we've only score north of 20 three times this season - against Rutgers, App St, and Miami of Ohio. Indiana is the only team I see us scoring more than 20. Maybe Maryland at home.

Doesn't matter if they have an iron curtain defense or not, we have a completely disfunctional wet paper towel of an offense.  And we're well past the point of having nothing to lose.  These guys have been playing with nothing to lose for weeks and have looked just as bad as they did before.

Maybe Nuss is intentionally sabotaging this season so that he gets Brady fired and his own shot at a head job? Is it sad that this is the most hopeful explanation for what we've seen this year?

Making a bowl game would be the worst possible scenario because no way in hell does Michigan have the balls to say fuck no to a bowl game like ND did when they fired Weis.

Thus, this would drag out another 1.5 months... and we'll end up somehow keeping Hoke and Brandon... ugh...

Indiana - W, 62-3 - Gardner throws six TD passes, defense holds Hoosiers to 78 yards of offense

Northwestern - W, 22-21 - Wildcats appear headed for the win when a botched kneeldown in the victory formation results in a fumble which is accidentally kicked out of the back of the end zone for a safety

Maryland - W, 45-17 - because that was the score of my first Big House trip, against the Terps

Ohio State - L, 56-0 - because of course if all that other bullshit happened it would naturally then be capped off with this

More heartache, more pain, more disappointment. That's what we have to look forward to the rest of this year.

My prediction: we win 2 out of 4, just missing out on the toilet bowl or something similar. Hoke is fired Monday after OSU game and somehow slimy Brandon survives and hires Charlie Weiss cause hey he coached Tom Brady therefore he has Michigan ties. Couches burn in AA and not a Sparty is in sight.

What will happen: we beat IU and lose remaining 3 because we are what we are. A team that struggles to execute and makes too many mistakes STILL. Brandon is fired no later than after the OSU game and new AD fires Hoke early December. New coach is hired by mid-January. Not going to speculate on the hires now, much can change by then.
