We just had Odell Beckham pass out wads of cash on national TV after a trial last summer where shoe companies and coaches admitted paying players.

The NCAA did nothing. They no longer exist.

I was getting wings with some buddies this week and saw LSU-Bama basketball on TV and Will Wade is still there. I forgot LSU had already given a big F-U to the NCAA and they did nothing about. The NCAA basically doesn't matter anymore if you're a big enough school that draws enough money because you can tell the NCAA to get lost

Rarely do you read a legal brief in a contentious case where the lawyers do not grossly exaggerate or at a minimum give an incredibly biased spin or interpretation to the facts.  Maybe this is true, more likely it is a lawyer trying to characterize something ambiguous to make his client look good and the opposition look bad.

At this point I say let him stay. He should have to deal with the roster he has put together. I want Michigan to embarrass him in East Landfill again.

good call.  ultimately the best result.  given the NCAA lets odell hand out cash at games and arizona and kansas are still allowed to play basketball, there is no possibility of negative consequences coming from that joke of an organization as it relates to this revelation.

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?

Where have all the flowers gone?

Young girls have picked them everyone.

Oh when will they ever learn?

Oh when will they ever learn?

Apologies to Pete Seeger. Supposed to be an anti-war song but it just seems too appropriate for that sorry excuse of a school on the Red Cedar.

This has been coming for decades. The fake Michigan "news" just pushed aside. There are many sick people in our world. Go to church and pray.

For Blackwell to put possible perjury in there, he has to have some physical evidence that proves it.  Well, it better not be something like him saying 'nah-uhh, he told me something different'!

In any case, nothing will come of this.  I mean, UNC doesn't have to entertain real courses.  Arizona and Auburn bball coaches have flatly admitted paying players out of their own pockets.  Zion Williamson turned down $120K to play for Kansas.  Cam Newton's dad proudly tells media outlets that he auctioned his son's services to the highest bidder.

The NCAA is a sad joke.

I dunno man. The people I've talked to say Blackwell is OUT FOR BLOOD. If MSU tried to settle quickly or didn't drag him through the mud I would agree. But at this point, unless MSU is willing to write a MASSIVE check he's going to see this all the way through, and you wanna know why? Because he knows that Dantonio knows that Robertson was handled very poorly and he can win in the court of public opinion as more comes out.

The public comments by lawyers are just trying to exert as much pressure on MSU to make them uncomfortable.

Oh God. Don’t ask. A couple MSU slappies that have an afternoon radio show in West Michigan. We have them and Huge mouth. Terrible across the board. The Costa guy is a huge douche that bashes Michigan every chance he can, often illogically. A reason I bought Sirius. Best money I spend each month.

Is this the thread where we comment on Blazer paying players at Michigan?  Or is there another thread?

Blazer’s information could also spill over to college football. In the 2019 trial of Dawkins and Code, Blazer testified that he paid football players from seven different schools in violation of NCAA rules. Blazer testified that he made payments anywhere from hundreds to several thousands of dollars to players at Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Penn State and Pittsburgh.

jud, i'll make you a deal.  i will accept the proposition that some guy with no connection to michigan paid a few hundred dollars to an unnamed michigan [EDIT:football] player, if you will in turn accept that your major sports coaches knew about, hid, and actively protected numerous sex offenders and at least two rapists, if not more.  fair?

oh, and in the category of 'it happened, no argument', don't forget to file this:

dean of school - resigned in disgrace and indicted

dean of medical school - resigned in disgrace and indicted

gymnastics coach - resigned in disgrace and indicted

AD - resigned in disgrace and should've been indicted.

MSU spokesman/fixer - resigned in disgrace and, though it didn't seem possible, made things worse.

I’m talking about football XM. And for the record cheating is part of the game. If you’re not doing it, you’re not keeping up. I do not except your proposal as far as coaches go. Simply because it has never been proven, and if it had they’d be in jail.  My contention with Dantonio is that he should be fired for the recruitment of Austin Robertson. He gambled and lost. A woman got raped. Fire him for it.

jud, i appreciate that you say you want your coach fired over the robertson thing.   i would add that i have family and dear friends that are sparty alums.  nevertheless, i don't agree with 'cheat to keep up'.

further, the rapes/sexual assaults happened with mork at the wheel, same with the brawls, the 7 DWLS misdemeanors for your star running back, the steroids, bullough problems, etc.; and the hundreds of rapes and sexual assaults your school hid for nearly 30 years, starting back in the perles era.  the school needs to level its athletic program and rebuild from the bottom.  it is a sick, twisted department that sold its soul to the devil to try and catch us.  it worked for 3 or 4 years, but i think those days are over.

so for you to try and spark off on our blog about the unsubstantiated and non-NCAA breaking allegations is weak.  i am avoiding using stronger language, but you get the picture.

As I'm sure you are aware, there is no NCAA rule that would punish Michigan for Blazer giving money to a Michigan player, unless Blazer is a booster of the University of Michigan, or unless Michigan had knowledge of it (neither of which is alleged in the article).

It's like when Ed Martin gave a bunch of money to a Michigan State basketball player.  MSU wasn't punished because Martin couldn't be proven to be a booster of MSU.  He also gave a bunch of money to some Michigan basketball players.  Michigan was punished, because Michigan found out that Martin fit the NCAA definition of "booster" and the athletic department turned themselves in to the NCAA and requested punishment.

So yeah, let's discuss that if you want.
