Playoff Chaos Scenario Unlocked: Who ya got and does the committee have the guts to make the right call?
Michigan and Washington, automatic ins.
FSU, deserves to be in.
One last spot that the committee is dying to give to Bama, but they'd have to go against all previous precedents set regarding head to head wins and undefeated P5 teams mattering.
Does the committee have the guts to make the right call and stonewall their SEC crushes?

They do not, in fact, have the guts to make the right call.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:12 AM ^
To be honest, the easiest thing to do is the right thing. M, Washington, Texas and FSU. Probably simplest explanation (undefeated P5 champs and Texas has similar resume and a H2H win) but then you have to deal with the SEC-stans and are they brave enough to do it?
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:20 AM ^
Well, we know Warde wouldn't stand up to them because he stands up to no one.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:22 AM ^
I agree with you. And no they are not brave enough. Alabama will get in and FSU will get screwed
December 3rd, 2023 at 7:38 AM ^
It all has to do with “eyeballs equaling money”. The SEC being excluded (even though it’s the right thing) is the worst financial decision for the Playoffs. They don’t have the courage to make the right decision and will choose ratings and Dolla Billz.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:40 PM ^
They're going to screw FSU to get Bama and Texas in.
Watch.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
They're going to leave FSU out.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:42 PM ^
FSU is fucked
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
Gotta be Tex. I"d give them the 3 spot with fsu bringing in the rear.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:06 AM ^
Ought to be. We’ll see.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
Texas should IN. Bama/SEC get a NY6 bowl
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
I saw one projection having Michigan vs. Alabama at the Sugar Bowl. Good grief.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:42 PM ^
Michigan gets to choose the bowl, right? Why would it not be the Rose Bowl?
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:47 PM ^
Bc Washington will get 1 seed. Recency bias
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:52 PM ^
I will eat my jersey on camera if Washington gets the 1 seed. 100% not happening.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:02 AM ^
Recency bias? It is not like UM beat #2 team five months ago. It just happened last week.
December 3rd, 2023 at 7:21 AM ^
Oh how I wish this were true. Nope. UM is going to have to prove it Game 1 with Bama,
December 3rd, 2023 at 9:37 AM ^
You are a miserable human being.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:58 PM ^
Michigan will be 1 and pick the Rose Bowl, playing either Texas or (gulp) Bama.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:17 AM ^
Do we really want the Rose? I love the Rose and I get the history but it's more travel and on natural grass. May also depend on who the 4 seed is. I oddly would rather play Alabama at the Rose than at the Sugar Bowl
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:27 AM ^
We want the Rose Bowl. Our opponent will have to travel there too. And it’s unlikely to be Washington. We don’t want to play in the South.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:18 AM ^
Please no natural grass. Watching Michigan slip n slide all game against TCU was nauseating.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:29 AM ^
Apparently Harbaugh prefers playing on turf and Michigan might choose the Sugar because of it.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
I really can't see them leaving Alabama out. They'll do whatever mental gymnastics they need to justify it.
UM
UW
Bama
FSU
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:42 PM ^
This is the correct answer. You needed four undefeated conference champions to lock out the SEC. Sorry, Texas.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:23 AM ^
LOL!! I mean, I agree with you but the only question is FSU. Texas is in, FSU should be but probably isn't.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:13 AM ^
Texas winning by two scores at bama means shit huh? Wild.
Can you imagine being us both being 1 loss teams and beating Texas by 12 next year and them getting into the playoff while we sat at home? Crazy.
December 3rd, 2023 at 5:00 AM ^
A one-loss conference champion is not going to be pushed out for a one-loss conference champion that the former beat on the road by 2 scores. If the committee didn’t care about head-to-head, Alabama would have already been ahead of Texas in the rankings. But the committee has put Alabama 1 spot behind Texas every week for one reason, and that reason hasn’t changed.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
FSU deserves it. Not having them in because Bama and Georgia are sexier would be pathetic.
Yet I could see the committee easily doing it and using the expanded playoff next year as cover for their rationale somehow.
If only Auburn didn’t go brain dead last weekend. A 2 loss Bama beating Georgia today would have made it an easy choice.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:43 PM ^
FSU must be in. They are a conference champion and are undefeated. They can't be left out.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:47 PM ^
ESPN gonna put the thumb on the scale and ensure an SEC team is in.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:08 AM ^
F*CK ESPN!
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:30 AM ^
Love the folks here straining to justify why Florida State DESERVES to be in when really you’re just saying it because they’d be the easiest opponent by far.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:17 AM ^
There is no STRAINING required to justify an undefeated conference champion being in the playoff
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:19 AM ^
We have no idea how good FSU #2 QB is. We all know Bama QB can run or throw a nice deep ball. Take those away, he is not that good. FSU running game seems to be quite good. And their D is legit. It seems like a tossup to me.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Alabama
I hate it, it's not fair to FSU, but this is the most likely outcome in my opinion.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
The SEC does not belong in. Its: MIchigan, WA, FSU and Texas
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
Should be Michigan, Washington, Florida State, and Texas. In that order.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:41 PM ^
Heck I would leave FSU out. Pick the best 4 conference champs. FSU is clearly the worst of the group right now.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:50 PM ^
Going into this weekend, SP+ disagreed with your assessment. It had FSU (6) over Texas (7), Bama (8), and UW (11).
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:17 AM ^
So, when those new rankings get released tomorrow and FSU fans behind them, can we use that as justification for leaving them out? They are less than a point ahead of the other two as of the last rankings and the way all the teams played today will see FSU fall behind the other two.
December 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 PM ^
SP+ has Bama and FSU dead even, so: no, not a justification. UW is still the laggard, not FSU.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:33 AM ^
And then Bama beat the No. 1 team and Texas steamrolled in its title game, while FSU again slopped by a whatever opponent.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:18 AM ^
No need to play the games just auto plug in Georgia and Bama at the beginning of the season. We all know they are at minimum top 4. Let everyone else play for 2 spots.
WE ALL ARE 100% sure Bama Is better than FSU. Much like WE ARE ALL 100% sure Oregon is better than Washington. Ill let undefeated be a better indicator than our own (even if we dont know it) SEC bias.
December 3rd, 2023 at 8:19 AM ^
Thank god someone else said it. Yes they are undefeated and that's why you couldn't honestly leave them out but are they better than Texas or Alabama? Absolutely not. They struggled in a weak conference and have not looked the the #4 team all AND they are down their star quarterback. There is definitely argument for them to be 5bsnd them losing to Louisville would have been the CFP committee's dream scenario to get the SEC and avoid controversy
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:42 PM ^
How tf do you leave out 13-0 FSU because "SEC". I dont give a fuck about their QB, OSU was down to their 3rd string and still got in.
December 2nd, 2023 at 11:43 PM ^
Stop speaking logic.
It has no place in in the CFP committee.
December 3rd, 2023 at 12:32 AM ^
FSU's best win is LSU. Bama has the same win. And a win over Georgia. Bama's fifth best win is better than FSU's second best. And Texas has to be in at this point with their win over Bama, regardless of the Bama/FSU decision.
It's unfortunate that a 13-0 team will be left out, but it is the correct decision.
December 3rd, 2023 at 2:21 AM ^
Lets talk worst loss. Ill break down FSUs worst loss and you can cover Bamas. Oh by the way losses are the first and most important thing. Thats why the top two teams will have zero combined. Anyway here is my take on FSUs worst loss…
December 3rd, 2023 at 9:29 AM ^
I know everyone wants FSU because that would be the easiest opponent for their team but just be honest they are not one of the top 4 teams they are not even a top 7 team right now without their Qb. Taking out your Michigan fandom for a second the 4 best teams should be in IMO. I actually hope Michigan stays at 2 and Washington jumps them so we get Texas in the first round, but in the end it doesn’t matter where the chips fall because you have to beat the man to be the man.
