Player You're Most Excited About This Season?

Submitted by Dilla Dude on

It's a really slow day so I thought  this might spark up some conversation.

Which player are you most excited to see take the field this year?

A returning player like Denard or Mike Martin adapting to a new scheme??

Maybe a player like Big Will finally proving his worth as a 5-star talent??

Or even a freshman like Jake Ryan or Antonio Poole finding ways to contribute early??

I'm so stoked for this coming year!! I would love to read your thoughts and opinions.

Marvin Robinson.  It seems like he was on Michigan fans' collective radar since he was 12, and now he's entering  his second year.  He's got massive amounts of talent, and big expectations to meet.

Denard for sure. People worry about him adjusting to the new scheme, but remember how he was an absolutely terrible passer freshman year? He put in the work, and became a good-but-not-great passer last year (a huge jump). I have no reason to believe that he wont (or didnt) put in the work over the offseason to become a great passer, and make the adjustment relatively easy.

I'm excited to see Blake Countess. He made nice some plays in the all-american game and when Denard was talking about him he smiles more than he usually does. I think it will be pretty tough to keep Blake off the field.

Im excited to watch a bunch of players and how they have developed specifically Carvin Johnson, who could turn out to be the ball hawk type safety we needed in our secondary... Also, to my surprise, Im excited to see what Drew Dileo can do this year. I remeber he had a very good catch in the spring game and reports from summer that Ive heard make it sound like he can be a contributor ay wideout and return man. Maybe he can be our version of Jordan Shipley... Anyway Im just really excited to see everyone play and take the field

I know, not a sexy pick.   But I'm excited to see a reliable PR who doesn't muff the ball and makes sound decisions.   He may not even be our #1 option there right now, but I would love to see him get a chance.   There was just too much lost yardage due to poor decisions - and dropsies - in the past few years by our PR's.  Would also like to see him develop into a sure-handed slot WR that feasts on 3rd and 8 situations.

EDIT:  Beaten to the punch by GoBlue re: Dileo.   Glad to know somebody else is thinkin' along the same lines as me.

We all love Denard showing his blazing speed. But for me I'd like to see the defense of old - no one player in particular - smothering D-line, Woodson-style hits from the corners, etc. Please - no 67-65 games this year.

J. Ryan at SLB. Watching him on tape - even the spring game - makes me drool. He has a great football IQ - Is a quick decision maker and ALWAYS wants to put a big hit on the ball carrier. Thats a player Bo would appreciate. I'm looking at him to be the center of our defense against Alabama. Seriously guys, be ready for something great. I haven't seen a LB I've been more excited about in a loooong time, although Roh is a beast he probably isnt a real LB. I also want to see some punishing hits and interceptions from Kovacs. Denard will rule them all, but we have 11 ppl ready to go headhunting for Michigan. This is exciting!

But I would be thrilled to see a healthy Fitzgerald Toussaint.

The most interesting guy in camp (because his potential is so great but his future production is so unknown) and this fall will be Big Will (and/or Washington).  As he/they go, so goes the defense and so goes the ceiling on how good this team can be.

Not many people have been talking about him, whenever he saw time the past year he was always a ball of energy, and usually was playing out of his comfort zone. Dude could be a real ball hawk safety.

Because Al Borges is a West Coast Offense guru (and a staple of the WCO is getting the ball to the receivers in stride so they can run after the catch).

I think that both could have big years in the new schemes.  I don't think that Demens will ever be a great player but I think he could be 2nd or 3rd team All Big Ten.  I think that Koger has a world of talent and could have more catches and yards this year than he's had in his entire career so far.

Why?  Because he has so much potential, he's playing an absolutely key position for this defense, and I want to see how working with Coaches Hoke and Mattison has helped him.

After Hagerup got suspended again (AGAIN?!?) ... this time for 4 games, thus missing ND and SDSU, there is nobody more crucial in my opinion to the team than Matt Wile. This could be a bad thing, though. Too much pressure on an incoming freshman might not be good... he would have to do kickoffs, fg's, and punts (He has a 42 yard punt average in high school from what I read somewhere).

Yeah, I'm from that school of thought where the punt is the most important play of the game. It can make up for a sputtering offense and really help the defense.

1. Matt Wile: UM kicking needs to be addressed ASAP, you can't get any worst than last year...

2. Will Campbell: He will be critical to this year's defensive success, want to see good things.

3. Drew Dileo: I have heard great things, could see him like Packer's Jordy Nelson this year...

Might be wrong about this, but I think of Jordy Nelson as being a tall guy with a knack for finding a seam behind the linebackers. DD is a short guy, more likely to rely, welker-like, on finding a seam within the first seven or so yards downfield.

That said, i've got nothing against being excited by him.
