Was in Crisler today, er, yesterday. Looks great. The new screen/scoreboard looks fantastic.

The Maize Rage student section and team benches are on the opposite side of the arena, replaced by wider club seats with an embroidered block ‘M’ on each chair. Not sure I like the sound of this. Maize Rage always looked good on TV. Hopefully the cameras will be moved to the opposite side as well. Otherwise we're going to be subjected to looking at blue-hairs sitting on their hands for the duration of the game.

I'm pretty sure they flipped the whole thing around, so cameras will set up on the other side. Maize Rage still on tv.

the block M on the court faces away from the bleacher seats = Maize Rage on tv

is kind of funny because now its how it was for years before they were flipped in the 90's.

The Maize Rage will still be on TV. If you look at the way the block M on the court is oriented, the bleachers that the Maize Rage sit in are right behind it. The M will always be right side up on camera so the Maize Rage will be just as visible as before.

Giant screens, padded seats... it's like you're going to a movie. Does look much nicer though.

Am I the only one that thinks the scoreboard looks a little low? It seems like a full-court heave would graze the bottom of that circle thingy.
Also, THJ doesn't disappoint with a patented reaction shot:

Almost the entire remake is an A+ job, but yeah, it still seems low. The bigger problem I have with the scoreboard (and the only new thing I really don't like at all) are the images of basketballs that top it and are in the corners. That is just cheesy and hopefully it doesn't last long.

I'm guessing those basketballs were just there yesterday for the Open House bit, after all quite a few kids were there and that's the kind of graphics arenas use for Open Houses. I bet on Gameday's we'll see like a block M up there or a mini scoreboard for different league scores

Is the Maize Rage still going to be splt off from the student section or will there be a bit more unity now?

I don't entirely understand your question because I thought the Maize Rage was the student section. Does this new Crisler seating chart help answer your question? Student seating is shown in maize.

Can't believe there aren't more students - during Webber era seems like we went from lower up into the upper section almost to the top.
That being said, I think there are big changes coming next year. While waiting in line to buy season tix, I asked a guy how I got tix in the lower bowl. He said next year there were going to be big changes and reseating. Hopefully they put more students down low.
