I'm going to guess his agent did inquire about the Pitt job.  Think Pitt could be of interest to Narduzzi?  Good recruiting state in an area he's familiar with, without having to directly compete on the field with the better Big Ten schools.  A P5 job where coaches have shown some ability to be successful.  Certainly a better option than UConn ever was.

Edit:  It's almost hard to imagine that he wouldn't have at least inquired.  If he is taking youngstown job out of at least partly a desire to be coaching back home, the Pitt job accomplishes almost the same thing.

In 2011, didn't Pelini basically tell anyone and everyone associated with Nebraska football - the fans, administration, media, etc. - to go F themselves, and get recorded doing so? Maybe that's not the direct cause for his firing now, but you can't imagine such a coach having a strong reputation or getting a good recommendation from others at his last job.

Because some weak ND teams were ranked when we played them? '09 ND was #18 in the poll when we played them but I think we know better, in retrospect, than to call that a top-25 win.

In the Pelini era, against teams that finished in the top-25 (Massey):

  • Nebraska 9-19
  • Penn State 5-15
  • Wisconsin 6-19
  • Michigan 2-21

The only Massey top-25 teams Michigan has beaten since 2008 were 2012 Northwestern (#21) and 2010 Notre Dame (#23). The other three ND teams had all dropped out by the end of the year.

It's not that easy to win more than 1/3 of your games against true top-25 opposition--look at Wisconsin, who won three B1G championships during that stretch. Alabama does better. Oregon, OSU. But those aren't Nebraska's peers now, are they?

That's great for Pelini - Youngstown

That's great for Herman - Houston

That's great for all of the coaches that have gotten a new HC position and for the coaches that have managed to get a raise from the Michigan Coaching search. Now even Gruden has an extension apparently.

I just have a few questions? Are we still confident and/or hopeful with Harbaught to Michigan? Is this more hopeful today? Is this less Hopeful today?

After reading Brian's rundown on the front page I need to know is the everybody that is going to be wrong the NFL guys?

Harbaugh to Michigan?

WTF is Pelini and the rest of college football thinking.  He may not be in the Saban, Harbaugh, Myers league, but going from 9 - 10 wins at Nebraska to YSU!?!?  In that case where does Brady Hoke end up???  Even his cat is confused....

I found these details:

If Pelini were fired without cause, he'd receive a lump sum equal to $41,700 a month for the number of months remaining on the contract.

But the contract adds: "Within a reasonably brief period following termination, Coach shall use his or her best efforts to seek and secure substantially comparable employment including the customary and reasonable terms and conditions of compensation at the new employment, without structuring or timing compensation to avoid mitigation."

If he were to find a job paying more than $500,000 a year, the university would owe him nothing.

If Pelini were to get a job that paid less than $500,000, he would receive some but not all of his damages. For example, if his next employer were to pay him $120,000 a year, that would equate to $10,000 a month. The university would then reduce his $41,700-a-month basis by $10,000, for a new basis of $31,700.
