Now we can hear everyone (i.e. the media and Sparty) claim Syracuse out-recruited us for his services. This whole story was such an overblown reaction to his 1-time visit... has there ever been confirmation to the rumor that he was never even offered a schollie?

Right, cue the negative press from the slappies in East Lansing, Columbus, and Detroit? Freep headline reads "Greg Paulus picks Syracuse over U-M". So, will it be the "family values", "spread offense", or "cold weather" smear? Simply awful.

Not to open up any more mind-numbing debate on the matter, but I seriously doubt he was offered a scholarship. We have still yet to hear that word mentioned. I think it was Paulus courting UM instead of the other way around - which goes some way toward explaining Tate's reaction. I doubt he would have reacted the way he did if he got the idea from inside the program that it was RR courting Paulus rather than the other way around.

...he showed up on his own, and Rich Rod said, uh, you can compete for a job. He wasn't offered a scholarship, no matter what Paulus may have served up on his diva ESPN tour a month ago.

for the Orangemen. They have lots of problems and should be developing players for 2010, not using a 1 and done like Paulus. Best case scenario is that he's good, improves and then leaves, leaving SU worse off next year. I think they should develop a guy this year to be a longer term starter.

I think the copy editors at the Freep are just messing with Brian at this point. Their headline: "Greg Paulus picks Syracuse over U-M". Seems to me their headlines have grown increasingly outrageous as he's begun LOLing at them. His links must make it worth their while.

He gets a year of grad school for running the clipboard. Four years at Duke and a grad year at Syracuse for playing with a ball. His major at Duke must have been marketing.

So I am at a week long corportate training session with a Notre Dame fan from Michigan. He is claiming that during Paulus' visit, Tate went up to Greg and said "you don't belong here." To which Paulus laughed and left. Is there any truth to this? Has anyone else heard something similar? If that in fact did happen, I think it is awesome!

Syracuse' staff really needs to focus on building a program back up. Paulus being a one and done player is not a big deal. Most programs that are in "reconstruction mode" bring in JC players with limited remaining eligibility to try and jump start things. As far as this being the last we hear of Paulus, I doubt it. ESPN College Gameday will be feeding on this story all the way through November. So all requests for mercy are hereby summarily dismissed!

Columbus' 97.1 the Fan just lead with a story about how Michigan football has reached a new low after Paulus chose to play at Syracuse over Michigan. "If he had chosen Michigan, he'd have started from day one". Also, that Threet has said that Sheridan will be the starter this season. The folks gobble this shit up - must be why I rarely listen to local radio...
