The Palmer comments got me thinking...

Submitted by championsofthewest on

Who do Michigan fans root for in tuos v USC? Obviously, an earthquake would be *extremely* fortunate, and far and away our first choice. But, barring a minor disaster, this is a game all real CFB fans will watch, and therefore sides must be taken.

So...who you got? Personally, since our delightful administration refuses to schedule any meaningful OOC games, I think the Buckeyes' performance against USC will say a lot about the Michigan team they will play to end the season. For this reason, and the very exciting thought of knocking off a 10-0, nat'l title game bound tuos squad, I'll be rooting for the scarlet and gray.

P.S.- Why must we be put into situations like this every year? OSU v Florida, OSU v LSU. and now OSU v USC. Every year it's a new set of issues.

We talked about this on another post earlier today, and I mentioned that since I live out here in LA I'll be going to the game, and I'll be wearing maize and blue and cheering for USC. However, my situation is a little different, as I surf with Pete Carroll and drink with USC's S&C coach (who is a little nuts, but even he says Barwis is totally off the deep end).

I have a flow chart for these situations, made even more complicated by the fact I live in the Northwest and feel a tingling of allegiance to U of O and the Pac-10. Even so, I pretty much hold up OSU as our biggest rival. I'd root for ND against them (especially now, heh. I love rooting for underdogs). I'll be rooting for USC. The only time I'd ever root for OSU is in a bowl game that's not the NC, and only for the sake of the Big Ten's reputation (ha!). This isn't to say I don't love to see USC losing games, but I'd rather see an epic loss to an underdog like Stanford over a standard "TWO POWERHOUSES ENTER, ONLY ONE WILL LEAVE; THE RETURN OF THE HYPENING" game.

Whoever wins, I hope it is a blowout. Seeing either team get embarrassed on the nation stage would make me happy. I can't see OSU blowing out USC though.

"Can't root for the Bucknuts. Never have, never will." Hit the nail on the head. I will never root for OSU, even if they played Hitler and a team of Nazi-Werewolfwomen of the SS. The only way I would root for OSU is if they needed to beat a team for UM to have a shot at the big ten title.

This is a total no brainer... Go Trojans! Run up the damn score. I was born in ohio, but had the good fortune to be raised in DC and went to to U-M. My dad was a huge buckeye fan, but after I started at U-M, he got a big ole maize and blue Bo cap and season tickets. We buried him with that cap! Screw the buckeyes. They've had a nice little run the last few years, but RR will change all that. After the bucks though, I root against every rated SEC team, starting with Georgia and Florida. Living down here, you'd think these rednecks invented football.

Look at USC's non-con record under Carrol (during this imprressive BCS ladened run), they have destroyed non-con teams. They have even beaten teams from the all might SEC! If OSU beats the Trojans, I'll be mighty surprised.

I once was of the mind to cheer for anyone in the Big Ten as long as they were not playing Michigan. This included OSU in their bowl games. However, with the disturbance in the force over the past few years and the constant noise of Buckeyes enjoying the smell of their own farts, I can only wish evil to befall them. I don't care how it reflects on the B10. The best result from the afore-mentioned game would be that the earth open and engulf both cheating teams in the fires of Hell. Tressel could spend eternity getting logjammed by Pete C. (Actually, gentleman Jim might enjoy that too much.) Maybe when all is right in the world and we are back to beating OSU with regularity, I may again return to being a Big Ten booster.

would never, ever in 10 billion years ever root for Ohio State. As much as I hate to cheer for USC, I definately have to pull for them.

the more wins osu has going into the UM game the better as far as i'm concerned. and even if UM loses to them, wouldn't it be great to watch them blow another NC? i wouldn't be happy to see them win. its just better for UM if they do.

It used to be a lot easier to root for the Buckeyes, before they were beating us all the time. For now, screw 'em, bring 'em back down to earth a bit. Usually what happens is, I sort of hope they win, for the conference and for the sake of the Game, but then I go turn on the TV and my hatred kicks in, instantly, and I pull for the other team. Actually, if I were the Dictator Of The Season, I'd have them beat USC. But they'd lose three other games: YSU (so they know how it feels), PSU (cause they hate PSU), and of course......

I want osu to win extremely ugly, like 5-3 on a controversial kicked-ball safety or something.  then lose a few more along the way, including Michigan (of course).  this is the closest thing i can come up with that emulates the meteor game (http://georgiasports.blogspot.com/2005/09/rooting-for-cataclysm-meteor-game.html)
