Try to poach Elston now?

Elation would be a good target. DL coach and recruiting?

Elation would be a good target.
No shit—we could all use some elation right now.

ND gets one of the best DCs out there and UM is rumored to be hiring a position coach for the Ravens with 0 DC experience.
Sounds about Michigan.

ND loses one of the best DCs in the country and replaces him with a 34 year old with no power 5 experience.
Anyone can play this game.
Chris Ash and Charlie Strong mentioned as possible DB coaches with Mullen at UF.

No power 5 experience, but he did a pretty damn good job against a good UGA team that had far more talent based on recruit rankings. If Cincy had any offense in the 2nd half they would’ve won with that defensive effort.

He was the LB coach and co-dc at Purdue for several seasons before going to Cincy...

Would Freeman even come here? He's a former Buckeye.
January 8th, 2021 at 6:47 PM ^
Wasn't Bo Schembechler an assistant under Woody Hayes? Didn't Greg Mattison leave Michigan for OH State?-Anything can happen, especially for the right price.
January 8th, 2021 at 6:49 PM ^
Didn’t he say that he wouldn’t come to UM for any amount of money essentially, or was that fabricated?
January 8th, 2021 at 6:51 PM ^
Freeman said he wouldn’t go to Michigan for 2 million per year.

I always see folks throw out Bo as an example for someone going from Buckeye to Wolverine.
However, the better example is Gary Moeller. Dude was a captain for OSU before coming to Michigan to coach. He’s the more apples to apples comparison.

Jim Leanord from wisky had no experience either and is turning out to be an awesome DC. I like our new DC. I think it’ll work. Jim nor John are stupid
January 8th, 2021 at 7:53 PM ^
I’d sure like to think John knows the situation that Jim is in and would’ve told him if this was a bad idea from the start. If not that’s a pretty shitty brother...
January 8th, 2021 at 9:27 PM ^
My brother used to fart in a pillow and stuff it in my face. This move could be John’s fart pillow to Jim.

Great one!

Lol, classic

Best analogy I have read in quite some time. +1

User name checks out here.

Unproven position coach who works for the HC’s brother. Lol
January 8th, 2021 at 8:38 PM ^
Relax. Freeman is a rising star in the profession. He will be a head coach in 2 years. You can book it.
January 8th, 2021 at 8:57 PM ^
....and we give a 5 year contract to a 2-4 coach, The Michigan Difference!
January 8th, 2021 at 6:37 PM ^
Jesus can we be done with it now?
January 8th, 2021 at 6:44 PM ^
Boy that seems like an invitation to me to create a mock account with the username Jesus, but I'm too cheap to part with $5.
January 8th, 2021 at 6:52 PM ^
Wait...an account costs $5?!?!?
January 8th, 2021 at 6:56 PM ^
Close enough
January 8th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ^
Well, if it's free for the Pope, I would assume it's free for Jesus too.

No, we are University of BPONE.
BPONE State is up the road.
January 8th, 2021 at 11:45 PM ^
There you go kissing Brian's ass again using his used up "BPONE" phrase. No wonder MGOBLOG site is going to the dogs and losing members and interest.
January 8th, 2021 at 6:40 PM ^
What's he a shooting guard? A stretch 5?
January 8th, 2021 at 7:04 PM ^
MacDonald will find our new Mike lb and also help plan your retirement
January 8th, 2021 at 9:43 PM ^
I would’ve chosen ND as well. No Bama on the schedule and I believe Coach O lucked into the Burrow/Brady combo and is likely to be an average coach.
In contrast, Kelly will be at ND as long as he wants.
January 8th, 2021 at 10:16 PM ^
You guys all know that’s how Vic Fangio became DC at Stanford? And that Stanford defense was one of the best in the country? He was recommended by John to Jim. Jim took him with him to SF. This could mean McDonald is great and Harbaugh will leave for the NFL next year OR just about anything else. But I would suspect McDonald is probably very good. The big issue is recruiting on that side - DTs and CBs is still the issue it is. My hope is that a phenomenal recruiter on the defensive side is brought in as well.

The X’s and O’s are one thing.
Don’t like Freeman in our backyard with his recruiting chops. He’s going to come after numerous guys on the Michigan radar.
