Other non-Michigan games you're looking forward to this coming season

Submitted by alabluema on

I'm especially looking forward to the Alabama vs. Penn State game on 9/11. Here in the Tuscaloosa area everyone is overlooking PSU, saying it will be a relatively easy win, etc. Call me what you will, but I'll definitely be rooting for Penn State in that one. I'm unbelievably sick of hearing about SEC superiority, how pathetic the Big 10 is etc. Any chance Penn State pulls out the win?

Also, I was curious to hear about other non-Michigan games you might be looking forward to this year. Ohio State vs Miami is another good one, although I hope Miami spanks the Bucks. No Big Ten allegiance for me in that one.

I really don't see why the Texas fans would be angry. They basically started all of the breaking up, they flirted with how many different confrences. Nebraska had to do what was best for them at the time. If Texas would've left and Nebraska didn't have accepted the BT offer they would've been screwed.

NU needs to snap their losing streak to them before they leave the conference. Nebraska has the best shot out of anyone in the conference. the talent at Nebraska is scary this year, I'm happy they don't join the Big Ten right now and have to wait until next year.

That is why I want to win this game so freaking bad this year. Last year's loss stung with me the whole off season long. 1 second left, 1 f*cking second is all that was on the clock. I was at that game too by the way and I was screaming like crazy when our sideline started celebrating but then Brown's on the field saying "there's 1 sec left ref!" and there was I was like "oh god no" I just want to leave this conference with one last Big 12 championship.

NO CHANCE PENN STATE WINS.  I live in Pa and I can not wait to see them get destroyed.  Everyone out here thinks they have a chance and they start saying blah blah blah.  Will be a huge blow out.

I am going to the Kentucky vs Louisville game this year, and maybe get a look at our once committed recruit Demar Dorsey.

Also going to Bama vs LSU in death valley

Boise will probably be ranked pretty high at the start of the season (Top 7 IMO). If they beat VaTech and run the table in the WAC, as they almost certainly will, they could be in a position to play for the MNC.

I would like to see the talking heads arguing over the merits of BSU in the BCS Championship game and the ensuing chaos that would take place if they, in fact, made it to the game.

Seems like the past few years I have been saying, "When Boise plays a real team they will get their ass kicked", and every time they find a way to win. If Boise runs the table this year I agree that the BCS will have to let them play for the title. Pairing Boise with TCU last year was a joke. Neither team got to prove a thing.

Well, the one plus I saw coming out of that game was that either BSU or TCU remained undefeated. And if I recall correctly, didn't Boise end up in the top 3 of the rankings?

had Boise played Florida and been obliterated, and TCU gotten obliterated by (example) Georgia Tech, neither team would have had the opportunity to be top 10 this year given the inherent bias bowl games give teams for the coming year.

So, in a way, the BCS in 2009 helped set up a potential headache in 2010.

One of the reasons Boise State/TCU/Cincinatti didn't play in the MNC is because they started too low in the coaches poll to begin the season.  Boise State was 16th, TCU was 17th, and Cincinatti was unranked.  They had to make up a lot of ground.  If Boise State starts in the top 5, and goes undefeated, they could play in the MNC.  Of course this is all moot if they lose a game.

Strength of schedule is no longer factored directly into the BCS rankings.

Going to be a decent game. I grew up going to Arizona State games and it should be interesting to see how Steve Threet does against Big Ten competition in a pro style offense.

Great outlook for the non conference schedule this year:

Oregon vs Tennessee

ND vs USC

Ohio State vs Miami

Penn State vs Alabama

Oklahoma vs FSU

Boise State vs VA Tech

Minnesota - USC. if for nothing else, I should be within 50 feet of the Song Girls, Will Ferrell and Snoop Dogg.

Last year I got to meet Adam Duritz before the Cal - Minny game, and he proceeded to stand NEXT TO TEDFORD the entire game, INCLUDING during team huddles. Quite amazing.

MTSU will beat the LOLphers...book it.

Although, I guess the Blue Raiders may actually be the favorite in that game...so not really much of an upset, is it? But an upset in the sense of a non-AQ team (and from the SunBelt no less) beating a BCS conference team.

I was thinking in terms of ESPN-type Shock Value...

Headline: OMG! Sun Belt team beats former National Champion (in the 30's) Big Ten team Minnesota!!!!!!!!!!!!

The average CFB fan who might not pay attention to the national landscape of CFB would probably see MTSU over Minnesota as an upset even though MTSU is probably the better team this season (I think Minnesota will finish 10th or 11th in the Big 10 this year).

You might be right on that count. However, Minnesota lost to a FCS school in 2007 (NDSU), as well as Bowling Green, and lost when 7-2 to a (wait for it - remember these are my two fave squads) 2-7 team in 2008. So, Minny losing games they SHOULD win is nothing worth mentioning.

That might be the biggest note here - the only reason the result would get mentioned is because they're playing on Thursday, 9/2. Nationally, people just don't give a crap about Tim Brewster's team. That's just the way it is.
