OT: Worst national sports commentator?
I usually think it's Skip Bayliss, but I heard Jason Whitlock on the radio today--claiming that Art Briles shouldn't be fired because "it's his job to stand up for the players--and now I think it might be Whitlock.
Stephen A. Smith is another "top-quality" candidate.
Who do you think is the absolute worst?

Easy answer - sasquatch....
That's blasphemous
Dick FUCKING Vitale, Baby!!!
impossible or unbearable to listen to.
I cannot watch a game he does. Upvoted you.
Doubled
Brock Huard.
Have to hear that blowhard every morning out here in Seattle if I want to listen to sport talk radio.
He is the biggest arrogant douche out here. He cost a good friend his job because of his douchiness. In fact I don't listen to that channel anymore because of him.
I have no idea if he is actually a jerk or not, because I don't know anyone who knows or is affected by him.
But purely on an objective, professional level, listening to him makes me want to drill out my eardrums with crochet hooks. The idea of him doing a daily radio show gives me the willies; perhaps he is a Manchurian Candidate planted by Sirius XM to persuade customers to pay for satellite radio.
I don't know if I would go that far, he may be grating, however, is he even the worst on 710/KJR? Is his sikdekick Salk better?
I nominate Dan Dakich. A total a$$.
"Hoke is definitely a collegial guy, and while I don't think the NFL is going to be calling any time soon, he does have the skill set to be on this list," Huard wrote. "He has the ability to galvanize people and put together a great coaching staff.
"He has been a winner at every level and turned things around awfully fast in Ann Arbor with his defensive-minded philosophy. His ability to lead from that side of the ball could be very intriguing for NFL teams looking for their next coach."

Well he did go to Ohio State
Every time his face comes on my TV I flip him the bird.
Mark Dantonio when he gives that "I'm passing a gallstone" look. And pretty much all other facial expressions as well.

That was my reaction anytime that I saw Michigan was the noon game on ESPN 2.
I wish we could leave Pam out of this discussion and instead say that she has broken down some barriers and commentated on some decent football games. I imagine she must have to deal with some pretty heavy shit from the male-dominated sports world even around the ESPN water cooler.
She is a fine commentator at the base level games. The end. At least she doesn't have a million douchey opinions like some of the other guys.
Her voice sounds like she's half-yelling while gargling driveway gravel and holding in a fart at the same time.

Whitlock really said that? What does he want Briles to do in such a situation? Advocate for understanding and patience? I think it is well past that, if this is the case. Yeah, Jason Whitlock definitely would be in my top five, if I had to make a list of sports commentators / journalists whose ability to stay employed was something I did not understand completely.
Whitlock was reportedly fired from the Ann Arbor News for alleged sexual harrassment. It doesn't surprise me that he would be fine with this.
This thread just made me remember all of the times I watched Michigan Football as a youngster and Keith Jackson was the announcer. <old man voice> "they just don't make em like that anymore"
No? I will probably mute it.
Greatest. Of. All. Time.

Nahh....she's pretty attractive (hot, as the generation-Xers would say).
Reporter , and I think she does that fine.
Berman. Though Pam Ward is defensible as well.
