OT: Who's gonna win the Superbowl?

Submitted by taistreetsmyhero on

Personally rooting for Manning to win one more and retire a-la Elway, but I think the Seahawks' defense is unwise to pick against if the game ends up being played in inclement weather. Plus, the Seahawks have a pretty competent offense that is capable of winning games in their own right.

Prediction if snowing:  Seattle 24 - Broncos 17

Prediction if just cold:  Seattle 35 - Broncos 31

and optimistic about a Denver win, but Seattle is imposing on defense.  This game has excellent potential to entertain.  Always nice to anticipate the game more than the commercials.

Yeah, Harbaugh is incredibly invested in his team. So the guy is emotional....he has turned Stanford around and made the Niners one of the best teams in the NFL.  When he was interviewed in the tunnel after the game, he was gratious.

I'd love to have his childish behavior at Michigan if things don't pan out with Hoke et al.

I think the Broncos win.  I get the feeling that some of Wilson's performance issues are due to the big stage he is now on and teams are figuring out how to contain him.  If the Seahawk D can get some pressure on Manning, like a couple of early sacks, all bets are off.

Harbaugh's team got jobbed a couple times in the game. He works the officials when he thinks his team is getting hosed. Good for him. I'm guessing you are not old enough to remember a guy named Bo Schembechler.

It is hard to believe that anyone could have watched the absolute shit show that was Richard Sherman, and then go post that Jim Harbaugh is a poor sport with no class.

Prancing around like a child and yelling to the ref is two different things.  And there was no calls that gave any advantage to the hawks all game.  You could say the fumble, but the niners got the ball back next play anyways.

that the refs called running into the kicker. SF would have had a first down and the ball around the 35 instead the Seahawks got the ball at their 40 and drove for a TD.  The BS blow to the head call that was shoulder pad to shoulder pad and kept a Seattle drive alive.  You must be a fan of team PED with a cheating coach and whatever you call that piece Richard Sherman.

The officiating was awful and each time the booth covered for them, just lamenting about a call not being reviewable instead of flat out saying they #@#$ed up.

The difference between these guys and the replacements is 25% performance and 75% perception. They were terrible, and it ought to be a story today.

HAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

Best defense in the league.  Punishing running game.

I was at the preseason game in Seattle where Manning and his offense got bitched in the first half.  Like absolutely bitched off the field.

Hawks win a close one, and the weather is a factor.

If the teams need to run the ball than Denver is in trouble against the stout Seattle Run Defense.  If the weather is decent than I think Peyton will go 4 and 5 wide, test the field laterally, and get rid of the ball very quickly.

On a side note I live about 5 miles from MetLife and this has been the windiest winter I can remember.  Even when its not really cold its still been windy as hell.

I really hate that the Sherman rant is even a debate. My high school coach used to say every great team needs a couple assholes. Its part of the makeup of the team. Whether that it true or not, i'm not sure. People talk shit in football and people who are offended have probably never played and just don't get it. I prefer guys like Barry Sanders and Megatron who are class acts but to be offended by hot heads is just dumb. They probably all had no problem rooting for the Bad Boys Pistons teams.

This is a silly argument for the following reasons:

There is no debate here - Sherman clearly acted like a complete jackass.

You are correct that every team needs/has a couple assholes, but did your coach also say that everybody needs to like them?

Nobody is offended here - just pointing out the obvious.

Yes, we all rooted for the Bad Boys because they were our assholes - but the rest of the NBA's fans fucking hated them!!

He only made an incredibly athletic play to seal a trip to the Super Bowl. Can't fault him for being emotional and it sounds like Crabtree was fanning the flames at the end. Also, Sherman was clearly more reserved in his follow up interviews. I'm all for interviews where players say how they really feel rather than "Well, San Fransisco played a great game, we gave it all as a team and came out with victory."

I'm kind of in the middle.

I don't really care that he went off on that rant. It's pro football. It's extremely violent and then all of a sudden IMMEDIATELY after it ends, he's supposed to be calm and gentle? Not gonna happen all the time.

That being said, I disliked him before tonight. Dude has a massive ego, rubs me the wrong way. Some people like and are entertained by what he does. I'm not one of them, but to each their own.
