He doesn't deal with the question anyway. I guess he could have batted Worth 2, but he needed him at 9 to get a bloop double.
Youkilis threw that ball about as well as Raburn swings the bat.
Boesch.
Kaboom.
5-1.
That was huge. Chicago should have had all the momentum heading into this game despite last night because of Sale going today. A 5-1 Tigers lead in the seventh and with Ricky dealing like he has, they must be completely gassed.
Well at least we know why Leyland batted Boesch in the 7 spot. Gotta love the Leyland brilliance when it manifests so magnificently. That my friends is how you get inducted to Cooperstown.
Don't want to jinx the Tigers but they are 8 outs from first place
Fail
Talk about it. Who would ever buy a Raburn jersey?
But not a jersey. I know you don't think Berry's going to be around and productive long term, and i don't disagree. The swing is too long and the defense is good but not stellar.
However, he has earned his spot and has brought both speed and a certain emotional level with him to the big club. He's getting on base, stealing them, scoring runs (nice to have Jackson and Berry on the base paths in front of the heart of the order), and getting clutch hits.
So i think that a t-shirt is in order and predict that they'll sell a good number of them.
It's going to be sad when Berry is the next Inge. A guy that gives it his all, loves the team and organization (because they were the first to give him a chance), but just isn't good enough. Hope he sticks around as a 4th OF because his speed is very useful off the bench and he has a good enough eye to be a backup at this level, but at the same time, if he's on the roster, the fans will just keep calling for him. Although he has cooled off quite a bit in July.
Who would ever buy a Raburn jersey?Hipsters.
People with more money than brains. After they buy the jersey, they don't have any of either.
Yay. The hillbilly hit one.
I don't care for when the national media refers to Detroit as "Motown." That's a music label, not a nickname for the city.
"Motor City," OK - that's a legit nickname. But no one who lives here ever calls the city "Motown."
Motown. The Motor City. The D. Whatever you call it, Detroit is a vibrant city with many fun and exciting things to do and places to visit.
http://www.detroitmi.gov/Visitors/tabid/59/Default.aspx Considering it is included as a nickname on the City website. I don't know anyone who lives in Chicago and actually calls it "The Second City," but it's still one of its nicknames.
and am old enough to be an ardent Motown music fan, but I never heard any Detroiter call it that. The Motor City, yes.
80 pitches thru 7 for Ricky. A decent inning here and we can talk about going the distance.
First things first...
Tough call. On one hand he's been brilliant and his pitch count is low.
On the other hand, he's not been brilliant lately and you worry about the bad side of Jekyll/Hyde coming out.
On the third hand, this is a pretty big effing game and you need to put the pitcher out there that is going to perform the best. If that's Benoit or someone not Porcello, you gotta do it.
88 pitches through 8.
I'd send him out for the 9th.
Exactly.
3 baserunners allowed all day, 0 walks. He can pitch until a guy or two gets on.
This will be the first Complete Game in Porcello's career
Has Ricky ever had a CG? Don't recall so.
According to MLB.com, no.
G money came to playyyyyyy.
C'mon Ajax, seal this game off
and hopefully gives leyland enough comfort room to run Ricky back out there in the 9th.
Hit a GS for good measure.
7-1.
I think Benoit and Valverde can take the rest of the afternoon off.
5 LOB today for Raburn, directly in front of Cabrera. But hey, he had that big 2-out, bases empty double when we were up 5-1.
Chances are, Berry wouldn't have fared better. Q is 1 for his last 19 against lefties IIRC.
Boesch is tearing it up in July:

If Rick and Max could pitch anywhere close like they been this week somewhat consistently, watch out.
If they pitched like this consistently, we might have a bigger lead than the Yankees (they're up 10 right now).
And he's coming out now. Right move.
This game has really flown by, especially considering that eight runs have been scored.
Apparently Porcello produced no highights whatsoever when he allowed 3 hits over the first 8 innings. *shakes head*
That was a game against the White Sox from earlier in the season. Chicago has red alterrnative/throwback unis. It tied into the fact that he has owned the Sox this year. 3-0 in four starts with a sub 1.50 ERA.
Definitely a good game pitched.
Hopefully the bullpen can close out the inning with no runs scored and lower Rick's ERA.
best game as a Tiger. With another series win, the Tigers are now playing with House money going into tomorrow.
Big K of Dunn. Big win.
1st PLACE!
First place!
Jacob Turner...hopefully he is just average tomorrow, that may be enough.
Jacob Turner: I think he will be fine tomorrow, but the Bullpen is well rested if he has another shaky outing.
Wow. With that giant-ass hook nose, he even looks like a hawk.
Did you know: Harrelson was the GM for the White Sox for one season (1986). He fired Tony LaRussa and Dave Dombrowski and traded Bobby Bonilla.
He then went back to being on of the world's most-hated commentators.
Now you know!
