That was huge. Chicago should have had all the momentum heading into this game despite last night because of Sale going today. A 5-1 Tigers lead in the seventh and with Ricky dealing like he has, they must be completely gassed.

Well at least we know why Leyland batted Boesch in the 7 spot. Gotta love the Leyland brilliance when it manifests so magnificently. That my friends is how you get inducted to Cooperstown.

But not a jersey. I know you don't think Berry's going to be around and productive long term, and i don't disagree. The swing is too long and the defense is good but not stellar.

However, he has earned his spot and has brought both speed and a certain emotional level with him to the big club. He's getting on base, stealing them, scoring runs (nice to have Jackson and Berry on the base paths in front of the heart of the order), and getting clutch hits.

So i think that a t-shirt is in order and predict that they'll sell a good number of them.

It's going to be sad when Berry is the next Inge. A guy that gives it his all, loves the team and organization (because they were the first to give him a chance), but just isn't good enough. Hope he sticks around as a 4th OF because his speed is very useful off the bench and he has a good enough eye to be a backup at this level, but at the same time, if he's on the roster, the fans will just keep calling for him. Although he has cooled off quite a bit in July.

I don't care for when the national media refers to Detroit as "Motown."  That's a music label, not a nickname for the city.

"Motor City," OK - that's a legit nickname.  But no one who lives here ever calls the city "Motown."

Motown. The Motor City. The D. Whatever you call it, Detroit is a vibrant city with many fun and exciting things to do and places to visit.

http://www.detroitmi.gov/Visitors/tabid/59/Default.aspx Considering it is included as a nickname on the City website. I don't know anyone who lives in Chicago and actually calls it "The Second City," but it's still one of its nicknames.

Tough call.  On one hand he's been brilliant and his pitch count is low.

On the other hand, he's not been brilliant lately and you worry about the bad side of  Jekyll/Hyde coming out.

On the third hand, this is a pretty big effing game and you need to put the pitcher out there that is going to perform the best.  If that's Benoit or someone not Porcello, you gotta do it.

Did they just show highlights of Porcello pitching against what appeared to be the Cardinals for their "smooth player of the game" choice. This broadcast has been terrible.

Wow. With that giant-ass hook nose, he even looks like a hawk.

Did you know: Harrelson was the GM for the White Sox for one season (1986). He fired Tony LaRussa and Dave Dombrowski and traded Bobby Bonilla.

He then went back to being on of the world's most-hated commentators.

Now you know!
