Always amusing to me when NFL bros assume Harbaugh or anyone else would be jumping at any available NFL gig. Like do you really think coaching at a tire fire franchise with a talent deficit is more attractive than being the King of Ann Arbor? If you can make millions in college, these jobs where you're likely to get hired and fired within 5 years are not that attractive

I think a lot of guys would jump at that money.  If you get an NFL HC job, and don’t pull an urban Meyer, you’re pretty much guaranteed $20 million.  For most of us, that’s money that would take many lifetimes to accrue.

I also don’t remember the last NFL coach to get fired and who had trouble finding another good gig.  Again, behavior and substance issues not with standing.

Texans GM Nick Caserio spent 12 years in New England as the Director of Pro Personnel having his job mostly done for him by Bill Belichick. He came to the Texans last year, hired Culley a few weeks later, and that didn't go well without the services of Deshaun Watson at QB. He may be a little out of his depth as GM but the bigger point here is he has no overlap or obvious ties with JH. If he does his due diligence and asks Jed York or Trent Baalke what working with JH was like... uh, that would have comical results (recall the infamous "this meeting is for men only" castration of York).

Unrelated, Mike Tomlin is now the only black head coach in a 32-team league where a significant majority (57-66% in a typical year) of the players are black. Bad look for the shield.

I'm ignoring the Harbaugh comment. I do think the firing is actual bullshit. The man should be given a medal four winning for games with that roster with a third string quarterback with the shitshow that franchise went through this year. If they were going to fire him after a year like this, it was unconscionable of them to hire him. That franchise is the worst.

Agreed. NFL coach gigs are brutal and franchises are sometimes way too quick to can someone. I watched the Texans play the Bills. The fact that he got that team to 4 wins is impressive. Same goes for the Fins firing Flores and the Raiders probably firing their interim if they find anyone they perceive being better. Way too quick to make a coaching move

From now on, topics intentionally aimed at riling up the board wrt to Harbaugh you go right to jail. Misleading topic? Jail. Harbaugh speculation based on nothing? Jail.

Somewhere in the thread on trash post on the trash guardian article (maybe they are quotes from the article) are claims that the NFL is becoming more stable than college for coaches. That’s just bullshit, as this shows.

Tough break for Culley, and not sure its justified if you ask me. He was thrown into a situation that was impossible to turn around in one year. I'm not sure what the Texans were expecting from him, but if it was more than they got, then they're fools. Seems to me like Culley was set up to fail.

As for Harbaugh, of all the jobs he could take, this is the LAST one I'd take. Well after Jacksonville. Houston is a tire fire with no real light to be seen at the end of the tunnel. There's no "building blocks" or "cornerstones" on the roster that you could build the team around. That is at least a three year rebuild project for whoever takes it. At least.

The Raiders or Bears, the two jobs I'd assume he'd be most interested in, are far, far closer to being contenders. The Raiders are a more complete team, and the Bears have a very promising QB who just needs an OL to protect him.

Easterby and definitive man-child Cal McNair singlehandedly destroyed a team in record time. They should hire Trent Baalke from Jacksonville and form the most inept front office possible.

Jim Harbaugh was in Indianapolis 5 weeks ago. After a disappointing finish to the Colts season, Owner Jim Irsay and GM Chris Ballard said big changes are coming and wouldn't say if they are committed to QB Carson Wentz.. (Owner Jim Irsay did say Coach Frank Reich is safe) I cracked the code!!  Jim Harbaugh is gonna  be the gun slinger for The colts again !!! come on people, he was headed to Houston for an award +That franchise is a mess..

Why would Harbaugh take an NFL job at a place where he has no ties? An older, more seasoned coach knows that there are myriad issues that come with an NFL job beginning with personality conflicts with players, owners, GM's. Why would you trade a pretty darn good fit in a college job for a lot of unknowns in an NFL job? My point is that not every opening will be an actual potential job for Harbaugh. The Raiders is the only one that, in my mind, offers Harbaugh some "knowing what he's getting into" and liking it.

I feel bad for Coach Culley getting shitcanned after only 1 season. Caserio is a douchewaffle of a GM. They basically blame the Bill O'Brian roster mess on Culley. Sorry, but I hope the Texans suck for many years to come.
