OT: Ted Nugent or George Perles For Gov.
This is crazy... it has been put out that the possibility of Ted Nugent to run for Governor of our great state of course with the republican party.

On the flip side I seen this http://www.sportingnews.com/college-football/article/2009-06-15/former-…
Yes... George Perles running for governor with the Democratic Party...
I have to say my vote would go for the motor city mad man...
Nugent, FTMFW.
Neither. Go with David Brandon or Rick Snyder, both are local a2 guys. Brandon also used to be a back-up QB under Bo fwiw.
ted nugent would be a more embarrassing governor than jesse ventura and arnold combined
Given the current state of the state of Michigan (woo recursion), it would be fitting to have an embarrassing governor.
would utterly destroy the state, it would be fun to see him dressed in a suit and tie.
Honestly, Dex, he wouldn't be any worse than Granholm, or, John Engler in his third term, which was an atrocity also.
Except that the state had better economic measures in every area, both compared to the national averages at the time, and neighboring states, which is the compete opposite of now. Other than that he sucked.
Are you kidding? A gov. shooting flaming arrows is just what we need.
Mr. Tough-Guy Ted had an entirely different approach to military service when his own ass was on the line during Vietnam. This is from an article on Nugent in the July 15, 1990 Detroit Free Press Sunday magazine:
"He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days, he ingested nothing but Vienna sausages and Pepsi; and a week before his physical, he stopped using bathrooms altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with his own excrement, stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. "... but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the foxholes...I would have killed everybody."
Neither Perles or Nugent deserve any serious consideration for governor.
I think there have been plenty of past Michigan governors who have crapped their pants.
I used to work downtown, and on my way back from lunch here comes John Engler rolling down the sidewalk towards me. Short and dumpy he was. Looked like he had a pantful just walking.
A former co-worker a while back used to work in a digital retouching photo place near Lansing while Engler was gov. One of their yearly jobs was to Photoshop twenty pounds off both Engler and his wife for the Christmas/holiday card photo sent out to constituents and other lawmakers.
While it would be interesting to see Ted run, I doubt he'd want to give up living on his ranch in Waco. And as we all know, it's pretty difficult to recruit guys from the South.
Still has to be Mike Ditka/Bobby Knight - 2012 (moving to the national scene here). The press conferences would be priceless.
I like to joke about how awesome Ted Nugent is, but only because he's safely and harmlessly tucked away in his Slim Jim ATV mansion. The Nuge, for all his posturing and borderline hate speech, is still just a nutty old rocker wearing a deer pelt hat; his political opinions, while invalid and approaching cruel, are still nothing more than the thoughts of one ridiculous man. If he were to actually attempt to implement his beliefs and practices on a wide scale, I think the state would probably explode before too long. He is not a rational or agreeable man. In fact, he's kind of a jerk, and entirely a lunatic.
of these are by far the best candidates, however to pick one or the other... I just don't think Perles' little "hard working" speech really does it for me.
Neither
BUT, with that in mind, I might as well throw my 2 cents in for what it's worth:
AG Mike Cox will be the next governor.
You should have no worries about a ventura effect or spartyville taking over the land.
Cox should win just because his name is awesome and he refuses to go by "Michael" to fix it.
I could see him running, and I think he'd make a decent governor.

I agree wholeheartedly. Sadly, though, politics is not a meritocracy; it is a popularity contest. And even though both are less-qualified to be governor than Scott Weiland is to run a detox facility, I could see either of them getting the nomination if their campaigns are conducted in a competent fashion.
Nugent is definitely the scariest of the two for me, and I could see him getting a lot of votes, possibly enough to win the election, from the rural demographic.
I could just see his first act: sending a militia of bowhunters to Ohio to take Toledo back.
not sure you could find enough people that would want Toledo enough to go all the way down there and take it.
better option: ask OH if they would give it to us.
First IU and now today Toledo.
MA, why do you hate me????? DanK is a much cooler Yankee fan than you!
In all seriousness, I love the sound of Toledo, Michigan.
Bring It On!
But if we took back the Toledo Strip, we'd probably forfeit the U.P. to Wisconsin. That'd be a pretty crappy deal.
I think we need to annex Michigan City, as well, to clear up the confusion.
The irony is that Perles is a Trustee for Michigan State, while he was fired as football coach following the season in which the Spartan football team was caught in an academic cheating scandal. He's not the guy to be a leader of an institution if higher education. [INSERT SNARKY COMMENT HERE]
And as a former resident of the state who still tries to find something about Michigan and Detroit to take pride in, please don't elect either one. It's been bad enough here in Illinois with Blago.
Do We know you???????
The username looks familiar. But i am not sure.
we take toledo, OH takes that little strip of PA that includes erie, PA takes part of Jersey.... where will it end?
With someone putting Long Island out of its misery.
You know, there are so many things wrong with this. I mean, just use your eyeballs:
Whenever I see that album cover, I wonder if the Nuge had ever seen This is Spinal Tap.
