OT: Sunday Tigers Game/Trade Deadline Thread
James McCann with a grand salami to give the Tigers a 6-0 first inning lead.
After last night's epic ninth inning 2-out comeback, the Tigers come into today 1 GB Boston for the final Wild Card and 0.5 games ahead of the Astros.
In the Central, Tigers are 4.5 GB the Indians, who just acquired Andrew Miller for 4 prospects, including 2013's #5 overall pick. Apparently, Yankees wanted Fulmer, Boyd and Jimenez from the Tigers for Miller. Crazy price.
A win today would be 6 straight for the Tigers.
Also, a win today in a Pelfrey-Keuchel matchup would be especially big. Nice to see the bats jump all over Keuchel and make him pay for the first inning walks.
Replying to lock in tunamelt.
If he wins it, does he get a side of championchips?

My tomatoes are coming in with a vengence. BLT's are the order of the day. Straight up tomatoe sammies when the bacon runs dry.

Also of note, Jonathan LuCroy exercised his no-trade clause to stop a trade to the Indians, which is obviously good news for the Tigers.

Didn't want to live in Ohio
I just saw heard that too. He was worried about PT.
Just to note, the trade deadline is actually tomorrow 8/1 at 4PM. This is a weird year where they bump the deadline back a day due to teams varying schedules on a Sunday afternoon.
after watching the 6-run Tiger rally in the 1st? I'm wishing Maybin hadn't been called out on that bang-bang play at 3rd---while there's just no such thing as a 'safe' lead with Pelfry pitching, a potential 7th run that inning sure would ease my worries.
On the bright side, though, the entire bullpen should be well-rested after JV's complete game last night.

Yeah Stoopid!
they need a speedster off the bench. i don't care what position he plays. this could be the difference in games that are tied or down a run; trying to literally steal a run with all of the tigers' one-base-at-a-time players on the roster. whether it's via trade or waivers or whatever. aviles cannot be on any post season roster.
maybe a michael bourn. crazy how that hernan perez guy is finally a good player a couple of years after the tigers had to dump him.
Did it get nasty or something?
That guy got called all kinds of names.

i was thinking the same thing. if the indians wanted miller that bad (or the tigers for that matter), why didn't they just offer him a few more million last year. he was a free agent after all.
I'm assuming that whoever posted about a trade rumor is in bolivia, since I don't see any post. What's the rumor?
In my original post. According to C-Mo or York or one of those guys on the pre-game show, Al Avila claimed Yankees wanted Fulmer, Boyd and Jimenez for Andrew Miller.
Ah, I see. Yankees can want whatever they want, I guess.
Exactly. I want a pony for Christmas. I'm not getting that, either.
BTW, that offer was in the Detroit News today, too.
On the pre-game show today one of the talking heads said that Al Avila claimed that's what they were asking.
Another opposite field homer for Mr Cabrera.
being stuck here in central Florida with no TV (the latter by choice). But in the streamed highlights of Miggy that I have seen through the years, it doesn't seem he pulls many homers down the left field line. Most of his homers to left seem to be in the left-center power alley.
that is why he is the best hitter in the game. pitchers obviously want to stay away from him, so he focuses on driving those outside pitches the other way, hence loads of HRs to RF and right center field. he does, however, often turn on inside pitches and gets the occasional HR to left.
