It makes total sense that the first person to be Beckman'd would in fact be the original Beckman himself, but this is a good move by Larry Fedora and staff as it helps them avoid, in addition to the embarrassment of potential NCAA sanctions (when the NCAA finds sanity again), the host of publicity problems that can be experienced by having a UN human rights monitoring mission following Tim Beckman around all day.

It looks like it was the Chancellor of the school who put the heat on to get Beckman to resign. Fedora has egg all over his face, chest, he's pretty much covered in it. Here are some quotes from Fedora when questioned why Beckman was coaching there.

"I don't believe everything I read, all right?"

"I know Tim, I know his side of the story, also. So I was comfortable with it. If I wouldn't have been, obviously I wouldn't have brought him."

"I mean the guy didn't win enough games. That's all it was."

Not to mention that Bechman was there to only watch film and gameplan and have no contact with players. Lo and behold on his first day working there is a photo of him on the practice field holding a piece of paper working with a player.

We don't even want you for $0.  Oof.

The UNC qb is from my town and I used to work with his dad.  He deserves to be Beckman-free, just like every other NCAA athlete.

.. I saw him play as a Junior against St. Ignatius, went to the game to see how Tom Strobel looked, and so my 3 yr old at the time could enjoy a football game.. wished Hoke and staff hadn't been so set on going all in on just one QB and had showed more interest in Trubisky as well.

No slight to Strobel, but I left feeling much more impressed that day with Trubisky.  Strobel just seemed bigger than most of the other kids.

The stupidity of some human beings knows no bounds.

"Not working with the players." So, from the photo in the story, I can only surmise that, I guess, UNC has athletes running around practice wearing team helmets but they are NOT football players. I mean sure thats possible--Purdue has been doing that for years.

It is very unusual for someone to establish a record that is very unlikely to ever be matched. Phelps, Bolt, and now Beckman. Awesome.

Is the real idiot here in my opinion. A guy who was fired for basically abusing players and making stupid team slogans, is allowed to come in and volunteer?

In related news, 73 other NCAA football teams proactively fired Tim Beckman today, even though they hadn't hired him. "It seemed like an appropriate decision to ensure there are no misunderstandings about his employment status here," an unnamed athletic director said.

A personal favorite of mine from Beckman:

"Yeah, uhh, take away 9-10 plays in that game, around 21 points, and we're right in it."

So by that logic, if you take away the three deep fried corn dogs smothered in nacho cheese that I ate for lunch, and then the four KFC Double Downs that I had for dinner, well, then I ate pretty damn healthy today.

This thread is stinky like toilet! YOU know who needs to get fired is nobody, alright? The economy is rough, we don't need to see any of these fine coaches get fired. The only thing we gotta worry about is football! I'M TALKING ABOUT FOOTBALL! This thread is just dumb dumb stuff!
