OT - So, I'm kind of famous now...

Submitted by Kvothe on
Well, my first cousin just won Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky today. His name is Elisha Justice for any mgofans living in SEC country like me. He is a point guard and broke the KY all time state record this year for steals in a career. He is, for some reason, way under the recruiting radar though as he is from the smallest class of schools there. They just won the state championship, though, which is a true state championship in KY. I vote we get his film to Beilien and get him in Maize and Blue. As of right now he is a prefered walk-on to Lousiville but coach Cal told him when he won Mr. Basketball he would get an offer to UK. I also got word earlier today that Calipari called his head coach at school today but I don't know what happend. I loathe UK and everything it represents. I joke with him about going to my beloved Wolverines and he mostly just smiles a bit. So lets get busy and get him up north for a visit! But yeah, I'm kind of important now, oh wait you mean it doesn't work that way? Anyway here is a small highlight film of him from this year. He is number 3.

he does wear number 3 because it was my number in highschool. He is a great kid and I was just excited about his achievment. We are very close but he loves Pitino too much to go anywhere else. I have already bought my Louisville gear for next year. I just thought it would be funny to post it here on my favorite site in the world.

If you had read it to the end, you'd have noticed the OP was joking about being famous, as he said:
But yeah, I'm kind of important now, oh wait you mean it doesn't work that way?
If you're going to jump every thread as the content police, then at least read the whole post before you do.

There are seventeen bajillion rules concerning recruiting, careful about violating #1734234 and #58673423, they are especially nasty. The first one results in Michael Rosenberg writing a complete puff piece about how you are a terrible human being, the second in a dong punch from the football player of your choice.

I love his leg kick when he takes a jumpshot. But hey, he should visit Michigan, I sell any one I know on the school (athlete or not.) I wish my gf's sister would consider it.

Good video and congrats to your cuz! I'd love to see him up here! You may want to tell him that in his recruiting video, he should show more jump shots...but, it looks like he has a really good stroke.

1). Does your cousin consider himself a point guard? He appears to be an extremely undersized SG or scoring guard. 2). Is there anyone over 6'4" in that video? I didn't see a lot of shots being challenged. Edit: The ESPN article I read about seems to indicate he has very good vision and is unselfish. If that's the case though, why didn't he put together a highlight real with mostly scoring? Wouldn't you want to highlight your passing and defense as a PG?

that does most of his scoring when he has to, mostly the second half. Every other player on his team is over 6'3. Their shooting guard is 6'7 and so is their small forward. That Logan, WV team they were playing in the video has Noah Cottrill, number 14, on it. He is 6'3 and is committed to WV. That purple Miller Grove team at about the 3:20 mark has some huge kids on it. Two of them are 3/4 star kids which Lousiville is also recruiting. They were the defending Georgia 4A state champions he scored 27 in the second half to lead a comeback win. *Edit* A response to your edit - his coaches really dropped the ball with his recruiting. I begged him to give me his game film so I could make a real highlight video but they just stayed too busy. He was in sports illustrated, the issue with Crosby on the cover, and that was the extent of getting his name out. He was named the KY Gatorade POV too.

I was just responding to the highlight video. From the scouting reports I've read it sounds like he is going to be a pretty good prospect. It would be great to see him rip it up for a mid-major like the Hilltoppers as a "big fish in a small pond". I just feel like as a walk-on you carry that stigma and it's pretty hard to get burn. Let us know in a year how he is doing.

I would neg you for not making this an OT comment, but I think to many people jumped on you unfairly. Its good to be excited about things like this and since you're a member of the GO BLUE family I can see why you'd want to share it on this site. Congrats again - I wish him the best!
