OT-SIAP: Ohio State to Honor Scholarship for Chris Carter

Submitted by Wolverine in 312 on

It appears Ohio State will be honoring the scholarship of Chris Carter, who was arrest for allegedly fondling several girls while fitting them for ROTC uniforms. Also, he will not be indicted.

It sounds like he confessed to the police and provided them with explicit evidence (in the form of the book). How is he not getting indicted?

EDIT: Ok, well it sounds like there hasn't been any decision one way or the other about pressing charges. That makes a lot more sense.

yeah, for osu, sounds about right.

two thoughts:

1. it's only fair, after all, everyone molests;

2. how many girls would he had to have molested before tressel would pull his scholarship?

I hope he doesn't fondle our incoming freshman in late November.  That would be an awkward start to the rivalry for our young guys.

It certainly isn't leaving a good taste my mouth, but it seems like the OSU Scout (premium) board is split.

On one hand, it reflects poorly on the university.  To those with degrees from OSU, that matters.

On the other hand, we don't know the full story and people trust Tressel's judgment in such matters.

I would have definitely passed.

investigation continues, per Cleveland police. So either the initial reporting was in error, or "continuing investigation" means "furiously buying off / begging 15 year old girls not to prosecute".
<br>Also, vomitious rationalizations going on over there right now. If the story was wrong and he didn't do this, so be it. If he did and is still allowed in the team, a true disgrace. Lots of second chance talk over there

He's bulletproof in the media and he knows it.  He wears a sweatervest, he says "please" and "thank you", and he'll always be portrayed as some bullshit beacon of morals.  If Rod did this there would be national outrage.

Vest has already proved with Worthington and Alex Boone that if you're a starter DUI's don't warrant a suspension of any kind.  Even though Boone was so hammered he passed out at the wheel and smashed into a parked car ON CAMPUS.  He could have killed several people including himself, but there's no way he could miss that Northern Illinois game.

Robert Reynolds performed the most bush-league criminal act I've ever seen on the football field and the Vest suspended him for 1 game.  He only did that because there was so much criticism that he had to.  Jaamal Berry was arrested with enough weed before signing day that it was a felony.  It was conveniently dropped to a misdemeanor, no one in Columbus cared anyway.

Pretty easy to make a decision in cases like this, IME: reword your actions by saying, "Should I honor this kid with a scholarship?"

An admitted groper is not someone I'd want to honor with a scholarship.

Anything that has the potential to come back and make Tressel and OSU look bad , I'm all for. Seems this would be a very risky move bringing him on the team tho, but it may be fun to watch.

OSU lost out on OG Aundrey Walker to USC and would've hurt to lose another OL recruit, so no surprise that the Senator elected to honor Carter's scholarship.  Whatever it takes to win I suppose...

no joke its hoke

I posted the story with a stay classy at the end of it. Well I live in southern Ohio and people on my facebook page can't understand why this is wrong! God have mercy on stupid buckeye fans.

Tressel didn't come out and say that he's honoring Carter's commitment. All he said is that it just happened, they don't know much, and so they're not taking any action right now. It sounds like Carter is guilty, but I'm not surprised that OSU didn't ditch him as soon as word broke. I'd imagine that they're just taking their time before acting, which doesn't seem that bad to me.

Assuming Carter is guilty and OSU still keeps him, that'd be an absolute embarrassment on OSU's part. But taking a little time before taking any kind of action seems, as of now, to be a fairly responsible course.

This is such a ton of BS!!! I'm sick a tired of all osu players getting special treatment, as if they're above the law. He's not being chargedbecause he's going to play at osu. Just like how TP and the other guys got suspension starting NEXT season, instead of starting with the bowl game. ohio state is nothing but a school for scum bags. I think they should be kicked out of the ncaa, they should have to get rid of all athletic programs, and any student athlete that has ever been arrested for any reason charged or not should be kicked out of the school and sent to a community college. I hate osu, I hate everyone that playsor has ever played there and I am so looking forward to Brady Hoke coaching Michigan to an undefeated season next year, killing those damn buckeyes and finally putting them in their place. Go Blue and god damn FUCK OSU!!!
