Good player, fit perfectly with the Scotty Bowman system. And on a personal note, I dated a chick in college who was your classic redhead Irish girl, didn't like hockey much. But being that Shanny was Irish and for some reason his playoff beard made her hot under the collar so much that when Shanny scored in the playoffs, so did I. Those long Stanley Cup runs were great for a number of reasons. God Bless Brendan Shanahan.

One of the NHL players I tried to emulate while playing hockey as a kid. Great player, and a great teammate. This was after his Wings days, but while playing for the Rangers in a game against the Caps, Donald Brashear had taken some cheap shots at Rangers players. Shanny stepped up and dropped the gloves with him. Unreal...
