That is just an awful story.  They just had a tremendous family experience playing at MSU last week...the three brothers playing together.  The Winstons, from all appearances, seem like a fantastic family.  Wow...just horrible.  RIP.

Say what you want about his school, but Cassius has always been an amazing personality while there. His answers to the media during the Izzo DV and rape allegations last year stand out immensely. Mature, intelligent, warm hearted kid. Prayers for his family.

Horrific.  Every family's worst nightmare.  All the best to the Winston family.  Humanity over rivalry, ALWAYS, when something this terrible occurs.

Wow.  Going to be hard to not pull for MSU hoops this year on some level.  Not saying I will be cheering for them, but probably won’t be rooting against them.  What a terrible occurrence.

If this happened to a Michigan player, RCMB would be in their glory. RIP to the young man, and I hope his family finds ever lasting strength.

Awful news.  Generally, people don't just get hit by trains.  Accidents like this typically occur when a person is attempting suicide.

This won't be popular to say.  But this is my exact thoughts.

It's really hard not to see this as a suicide.

Or... murder?

I mean the statistics of people getting hit by trains must be incredibly low.  Everything about this situation seems off.

Absolutely tragic :-(

Events like these are a great reminder that, while rivalries can bring out the worst in all of us, these are real people.  Cassius seems like a great person. My heart is heavy for him and his family.

As a Briton alumnus, this hits closer to home than for many of us here. I crossed those train tracks hundreds of times in my time at Albion on my way to and from classes and activities. The main crossing on Hannah Street is well marked. From the Freep article, it seems that this did not happen at that spot, but a bit further towards downtown, and perhaps, reading into the wording, did not happen where a street and sidewalk cross the tracks. It was not uncommon to walk along the tracks occasionally, but it was not usually the shortest distance between any two facilities on campus. I'm saddened for both the Winston family and the Albion College community. RIP Zach.

Can’t even imagine what he was going through to do that, and what Cassius and Zachary’s loved ones are going through today. RIP to Zachary and my prayers will be with the family.

A Michigan law student committed suicide the same way recently. Really just leaves me speechless.

I once considered a position with Norfolk Southern.   Then I realized the hours on call, but the biggest thing was the probability that I would see several people get killed in that career field.

Condolences go out to the Winston family and the Albion Britons.  But also keep the train crews in prayers for the horrors that they witness on the job.
