OT: RR has Fuller as "top priority" (and sombreros)
No surprise that RR is going after Fuller. He desperately needs a QB after two departures from UA.
I actually thought the best part of this article was the picture in the upper right corner of RR in a Sombrero. Do you think growing up in WV he ever pictured himself like this...quite the dichotomy. This should go in the MGO photo library.

Okay, now we are going to see threads about his recruiting targets???? He's gone, let it go. Let him do what he needs to do in AZ without a thread born on Mgoblog every minute about it.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:00 AM ^
but I thought the picture was fun to share. Keep him away from the likes of Meyer.
pa: if it doesn't interest you...don't click it.
December 11th, 2011 at 12:00 PM ^
I think Fuller ends up at Nebraska.
December 11th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
That sucks. I don't want to have to face him in B1G play.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:06 AM ^
not view it!! Are we somehow bothering RR by posting threads here. He's part of our history and I believe many of us are hoping he does well. Relax thread police!!
I agree, though, I hope he gets Fuller. It keeps one less 5 star dual threat away from Meyer. It would give his program a good boost.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:15 AM ^
Lloyd Carr just took a shit...and he didn't wait for the water to get warm when he washed his hands.
Hey, he's part of our history. I just thought you all should know.
December 11th, 2011 at 12:25 PM ^
link or it didn't happen.

This is the logic of someone whose been smoking bath salts.
December 11th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
I agree, if you don't want to read about RR, don't click on threads that have RR in the title. Seems simple enough to me
December 11th, 2011 at 10:59 AM ^
This is thread-worthy if for the sombrero pic alone.
December 11th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
I'm actually glad this was posted. It's relevant, as long as we don't get a play by play of EVERY U of A recruit. But Michigan has expressed interest in Fuller so its definitely relevant.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
It's nice that he's hit the ground running a bit in Arizona, but the sun is setting on RR threads, I think. In any event, I think there was a thread on this earlier in the week.
EDIT: Here it is - http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/fuller-considering-arizona
December 11th, 2011 at 10:09 AM ^
did it have a picture of RR in a sombrero. I cracked up at that.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:18 AM ^
The sombrero pic elicited a chuckle. It does look like he's having fun in Arizona, at least.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:04 AM ^
I am guessing RR doesn't ever want to be stuck with a Threet-idan situation again. If he is lucky, he will be able to get a juco transfer or two from what is a decent area for juco football. I am guessing he will have an easier time getting juco students admitted to Arizona.
It also looks like RR is going out of his way to be fan-friendly, and posing for a fan with the fan's sombrero is a good PR move. I don't think we'll be seeing it as his regular headgear, though. I have a feeling he will be very proud to wear an Arizona Wildcat hat as often as possible.
December 11th, 2011 at 11:23 AM ^
The juco angle is interesting. If I was RR, after having Ms. Rita whip me up some nachos, I'd develop some strong relationships at juco schools that run the same type of spread. It would almost be like having a few farm teams to draw talent from.
December 11th, 2011 at 11:30 AM ^
It's a good area for JUCO talent, and that's pretty much how other schools in the southwest in particular have used them, as farm teams, or at least it seems that way. I imagine RR would have a far easier time getting into that market than he did here, where it is virtually inacessible by comparison.
December 11th, 2011 at 1:45 PM ^
Bob Stoops certainly has had success with Juco talent. His first year at Oklahoma he brought in Josh Heupel at QB. The next year Oklahoma went undefeated and Heupel was a finalist for the Heisman trophy. Schools with lower academic standards that can more readily use Juco talent do have an advantage in filling imediate needs with experienced player. The transition to a new coach and system is easier when using 20-21 year olds instead of athletes right out of high school.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:05 AM ^
for the Arizona faithful already.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:06 AM ^
I agree, RR threads quickly getting over excessive. Lets move on, make a META announcements banning them unless they related to Michigan.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:11 AM ^
If you don't want to read it, then don't read it. Stop trying to impose regulations on everyone. We are outside of football regular season... Relax
December 11th, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
December 11th, 2011 at 10:20 AM ^
What about the post regarding Ryan Braun? Or Lamar Odom? What connections do they have to Michigan? Have you invaded those threads to complain?
This post is infinitely more relevant to Michigan (since Rodriguez is our former coach and Fuller is a kid we were pursuing) than those are.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
December 11th, 2011 at 11:06 AM ^
I never liked the soviet judge. Always giving a 1 when a 9.5 was warranted
December 11th, 2011 at 1:22 PM ^
The NFL Red Zone host's thoughts on Michigan are "infinitely more important to sports" than the recruitment of a Michigan target to a former Michigan coach who has turned his last two quarterbacks (Pat White, Denard Robinson) into Heisman candidates?
Hmmm........
December 11th, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Here's the difference: That thread was a little "fun fact" about a personality a lot of us know about. It was interesting to some, but won't be posted again. If we're going to make a post about every Arizona recruiting update, its going to clutter the board and in general be annoying, because (unlike the other thread) we would see a dozen per week. You see the difference?
December 11th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
I think it's funny that you don't like the tread but have spent how much time posting on it? Makes sense to me.
December 11th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
No, I don't see the difference.
I don't care any more about the dude from NFL Red Zone than I do about Rich Rodriguez recruiting Devin Fuller. They are both equally relevant or irrelevant, however you want to look at it.
But frankly I don't have a problem with them being posted in the MGoBoard because they are "fun facts" and they are somewhat interesting to me as a Michigan fan. So while you think the dude from NFL Red Zone liking Michigan is a fun fact, I think Rodriguez/Arizona/Fuller is a fun fact.
We each get a taste of fun facts, and neither of us has to click on either thread. The difference is that you want this thread to be eliminated, whereas I don't really give a rat's ass about the other thread and whether it stays or goes. It's labeled "OT" so don't click on the next Rodriguez thread. It's that simple.
December 11th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
because they will always be associated with the program in peoples minds. Whether or not RichRod finds success at Arizona will weigh on the scales of how history judges aspects of his tenure at Michigan. This is unavoidable and just because some people want to sweep it under the rug does not mean that it should be done.

To be fair, Ohio-related news is clearly inside the bounds.

Made into a liquid and usually ingested through a nose tube. A little-used procedure with a very high success rate.
FWIW, she didn't actually have to eat a shit sandwich.
Now this deserves the OT tag. Unless it happened in Ohio.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:46 AM ^
The problem is when people start insisting they are the ones to draw the line...and the clutter from the thread policing becomes worse than the original "infraction". It's an interesting article about our former coach, with a funny pic.
December 11th, 2011 at 1:24 PM ^
It clutters up the internets.
December 11th, 2011 at 11:20 AM ^
Agreed. Im so sick of these RR posts. Hes not here anymore. Let it go people. Great, hes recruiting Devin Fuller and juco qbs, yay. Oh and hes wearing a cool hat, so I guess it is thread worthy. Unreal.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
I think we should all let this guy tell us what to talk about. What should the next thread be about, dear leader?
December 11th, 2011 at 10:42 AM ^
I get that RR is connected to Michigan. But I think it probably ends with recruiting. Staff hirings and all that make sense, but is this going to be a Arizona recruiting blog now too? Probably went overboard saying these threads should be banned, and in the future I will just ignore instead of flaming on it, but the recruiting takes it one step too far.
As for the next thread? I support anything lolcats.

December 11th, 2011 at 10:07 AM ^
Beat Ohio, Sparty, Wisky, PSU, and Nebraska.
December 11th, 2011 at 10:14 AM ^
and in that vein the days of Bo having five QBs on the bench just so they couldn't attend ohio, michigan ag., pswho, and etc....are gone with scholly limits ...this isn't a bad thing to have top talent headed to one of our former coaches who gifted us Denard...I'll always thank him for that =)
December 11th, 2011 at 10:10 AM ^
I only talk about the coaches that coach for Michigan (and ohio).
December 11th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
The fact is that nobody would mind Rich Rodriguez threads if he had won a bunch of games at Michigan. If Gary Moeller or Lloyd Carr or Bo Schembechler had gone on to coach elsewhere, people would be okay with Moeller/Carr/Schembechler threads.
You people don't want to see Rodriguez news because he put Michigan through such a bad three-year stretch.
I don't see anyone trying to put a limit on Jason Avant threads, Mike Hart threads, Braylon Edwards threads, etc. Hell, Steve Threet was a bad quarterback and CHOSE to leave (Rodriguez was forced out), and we still saw Steve Threet threads around here without any complaints.
Rodriguez is inextricably connected to Michigan. Deal with it. If you don't want to read news about a former Michigan coach, then click on a different thread.
Right now I see threads about Ryan Braun, Lamar Odom, the NFL Red Zone host, and Cincinnati/Xavier. As if those things have anything to do with Michigan sports...
December 11th, 2011 at 11:37 AM ^
Correcto! I think its funny anytime a former MSU student/student athelete gets arrested for anything, a thread is up that day.
I wasn't a big fan of RR while he was here but it is nice to know about his successes in the future and this would be the place for me to gain knowledge of that, because I'm not going to try to find out on my own.
December 11th, 2011 at 12:22 PM ^
And, since I do not particularly care about most of those, I do not click on them. On the other hand, since I do still care about Rich Rodriguez, I am interested, and click on, any thread that seems to relate to him and his future success. Regardless of how anyone feels about his three years at Michigan, he loved his kids, worked his tail off for the program and was a generally good guy. I still want to see him succeed, am interested in news that relates to him and am similar to many other regular readers in that regard.
