OT: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Defends the UFC Light Heavyweight Title

Submitted by HartAttack20 on
Last night on TV (on VS.) the UFC light heavyweight title fight was on. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson fought against Dan Henderson. I'm somewhat new to watching the sport, but I like it a lot. I think this could grow into the next big thing. Rampage Jackson is a tank and he throws some big hooks. This guy beat Chuck Lidell twice, and I think he's here to stay as a belt contender. He's only 29 and he's in his prime. Is anybody else a fan and watch the fight? EDIT: Also, the other fights were pretty good. I think the deaf fighter got hosed and should've beaten Bispin from England. I really like the set up of UFC with the line-up of multiple fights leading up to the big fight of the night.

I watched those fights several months ago, when they happened. Since then, Rampage got beat by Forrest, then went on a literal rampage in his truck. He is one of the coaches for the new Ultimate Fighter season which should be pretty good.

I watch every PPV and dvr the UFC unleashed on Spike. Rampage is a definite talent, though he has only fought Liddell once. He is probably top 5 in the light heavyweight division. You my friend have some serious catching up to do. So much has happened since that fight... Henderson moved down to 185lbs and knocked Bisbing the fuck out. He is due for a title shot vs Anderson Silva (you need to know this name) in the coming months. As for MMA being 'the next big thing', have you been living in a cave for the past 5 years??? MMA and more specifically UFC has EXPLODED over this time period! Love to see the new love though!!! Up here in Canada we go crazy for it. Love GSP!!! Keep watching Spike as they'll air unleashed everynight playing old fights and its a good way to start to know the fighters and the lingo of the sport. UFC is now what boxing was in the 60's and 70's...

Where are you from cause I used to be a fan of Elite XC and Pride and never saw them on CBS. BTW Kimbo is a joke made his name fighting nobodies then gets KO'd in what 15 seconds? by Petruzelli? I hope that bum get embarrased in TUF heavyweights and crawls back into the hole that is youtube! WAR WANDY!!!!!

I've split my last four years between Ann Arbor and northern Michigan. It was sometime around last summer I think. They did three or four "Saturday Night Fights". I'd like to see Kimbo win one or two fights on the show to prove that he has some skill, but I'd rather see someone else take the whole thing and I'm sure they will. Mostly I just want to see a big heavyweight win so that there is another guy who fights at ~300 lbs. so that Lesnar can't just lay on top of him and throw little punches over and over that add up over time. I hate watching his fights. Boring as hell.

Until Fedor joins the UFC Lesnar is going to continue knocking people down laying on them tiring people out while throwing hammer fist after hammer fist. Lesnar fights at what 275? All the best heavyweights are out side the UFC Fedor and Barnett in affliction and Rogers and Arlovski in strikeforce

NFL and college football big, and even NASCAR big, is a whole new level...we're talking about American institutions here. I don't think it will get that big, but comparatively speaking, getting past boxing's prime would be a huge step of 'biggness'.

"You might have some serious catching up to do" Wow! You wrote that long paragraph with all your MMA knowledge and you think Liddell and Rampage only fought once? Brush up on your history, like vdiddy24 said, they fought in Pride. You might want to google it and see that many of the top UFC fighters came from there.

Rampage also was involved in a slow speed pursuit in Newport Beach. His truck has his name and a huge picture of himself, so it was not hard for the police to know who was driving. I like watching the fights, but I can do without the seizure inducing shirts and huge raised trucks with stickers that have become associated with MMA.

barnett tested positive for druge before he was about to fight fedor on august 1. thats why Fedor is now with strikeforce cuz affliction is basically done for ! Arvloski was actually doing good against fedor until he tried jump punching him and got KTFO ! rodgers i think is just too raw to handle fedor technically. everybody wants to see fedor/lesnar, not gonna happen for awhile. money talks ! i thnk shane carwin has a shot vs lesnar on november 21st that guy is powerful, and only a big guy i think can handle lesnar.Lesner may even be too big now for fedor, guess we won't find out/ velasquez is too small and not technical enough to handle lesnar. as for the 205ers - machida and silva need to fight each other. also looks like rampage and rashad evans in december. i'm gonna say this same now for the future for 170 or 185 - John Paul Jones !
