CNN just says that he's hospitalized, but CPR was performed by paramedics, no official word of death from anyone but TMZ so far. Personally, I think the loss of Farrah Fawcett today was more tragic.
...also says he's just hospitalized.
LA Times updated, and said he's in a coma.
I really hope that was a joke...it's sad that Farrah Fawcett died, and it sucks that her death will be overshadowed. BUT...Michael Jackson is one of the 5 greatest entertainers EVER. If he is dead, this is like Elvis, Lennon, or Cash. Farrah just doesn't match up. Not to mention she had been sick and her death wasn't a huge surprise.
How about the ol' "bad things come in 3's". Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon...
Not quite the same as Elvis, Lennon, or Cash to me. None of those guys ever went on trial for molesting children, and all were somewhat active in music toward the end of their lives. I'm sad that he died (or is in a coma), but I'm having a hard time acepting this as something as groundbreaking as the above-mentioned legends. Not to mention, tell me with all of those weird freak surgeries he wasn't bound to have some major medical complications sooner or later.
I'm not a Michael Jackson fan by any means, but the man sold billions of records. He was the KING of pop music. This is indeed, just as big as Elvis, Lennon, and Cash.
Even some of his new stuff but everything just went down hill in a hurry after all the legal trouble.
Remember the good and forget the bad.
very well said...
It's kind of hard to forget the fact that he was a fucking child molester, don't ya think?
Allegedly.
...give it time. Unless you were one of kids. Then give it lots and lots of prescription meds. And booze.
doesn't mean he had done what was alleged to have done. MJ prolly felt,in order to deal with the method to the maddness...pay those who are bringing the maddness. The court case an the outcome speaks for itself. Like it or not...he was found not gulity.
My god.....
you're delusional
If we always go by the "remember the good, forget the bad" rule, then I think Hitler should only be remembered for bringing Germany out of a major economic depression in the 1930's.
...and Godwin's Law once again holds true.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law
This is at least the second time that I've brought good ol' Godwin's Law down on this board.
Volkswagens... mini-buses and bugs are basically Heil-mobiles
add James Brown to the above list please. I can't use the word 'entertainer' with thinking the godfather of soul.
LA Times just updated at 3:15 PST that he has died.
Any truth to the rumor he was looking at pictures of newly buff Tate when he had a heart attack?
That's terrible, but very funny.
Tate is too old for his liking
Haha, ooooooooo
Maybe a little soon but congrats on the balls it took to post that.
After reading the title, I thought Tayshaun had been traded.
I thought the exact same thing
RIP Michael, not fun to watch someones life unravel, especially someone as talented as Michael.
Hopefully now people can actually value his gift to the world and not give him crap about being so damn weird at the end of his life. The first MJ, the king of pop, will be truly missed.
I agree, but the first MJ died a long time ago. A whole generation of people, myself included, only knew him as a bleach skinned child molester, and the guy who sang the song for the first Free Willy movie.
CNN now says that he died.
Pretty shocking news. Wouldn't rule out suicide, really: once the '80s flopped over to the '90s his life was one big tabloid headline, and he's in debt up to his eyeballs. Much of it his own doing, but I really wouldn't wish that lifestyle on anyone.
Not gonna lie, either: he made some damn good music back in the day. "Beat It" is ten kinds of fun to play on Guitar Hero.
was getting ready for a 50 show tour. Wanted to make one last run.
"MSNBC says the LA TIMES has confirmed Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50."
You might not like Mikey but his popularity is unquestionable. The news of his death has overwhelmed Twitter and was temporally down. Farrah or Ed's deaths combined didn't create that sort of buzz.
Popularity or notoriety? I'm not sure Michael Jackson was as popular as he was famous.
My kids don't believe me when I tell them how big he was in the early-mid eighties. He was every bit as big as Elvis to those born after about 1960. Its is easy to be too cool for him now or be disturbed by the later stuff, but in the early to mid 80's, everyone was a fan no matter what they say now. And he freaked me out as much as any in the later years.
Oh, popular then, I definitely believe. Thriller's still the #1 album of all time ever, isn't it? These days he's unfortunately been more of a sideshow than a rock star, and there's a whole generation of folks, me included, that missed out on the popularity and went straight to the weirdness. And a lot of other people who'd been fans were probably turned off by the more sordid details of his life. His notoriety grew from his popularity, but as of June 2009, I wouldn't call him popular any more.
then he'd really be a legend to all.
He's definitely the biggest musical act in my lifetime. Thriller was the first album I ever bought, and I know that was true for many, many other people.
I would say popular, considering from what I've seen most of the messages on fbook and twitter say something along the lines of 'R.I.P MJ', and not 'that crazy singer is dead'
People recognize his impact on music and pop culture, and his timeless songs. I for one was deeply saddened that he died at a time when he was going through stress of people talking badly about him, trying to get his money, etc..
But now he's dead, everyone's gonna change their tune and start paying their respects. Kinda weird how death does that.
Not everyone liked the man but his music is different. Everyone's got at least one song that will make them get up and do a moonwalk.
Dude, hits home for us old guys that wore the jacket and throught the moon walk was the coolest thing they'd ever seen (for a secind at least).
of what was arguably the finest musical talent ever. Musically, he reached heights few others achieved; notably, the Beatles and Elton John, just to name two. If there was a poll for the greatest musician ever, he would get more than a few votes.
What happens to his 50% stake in the Beatles' song catalog? I think Sony owns the other half, and had an option of buying out a large portion of his share.
Apparently Michael planned on leaving his share of the Beatles'song catalog to Paul McCartney if MJ passed away first.

I'd be remiss, by the way, if I didn't mention that Captain EO movie he did that they used to show at Epcot. When you're seven years old and they got those 3-D glasses for you to watch the movie, on the list of coolest shit ever, that's more or less the pinnacle.
she was super hot. warped me feeble mind, it did
I must confess. I have never been a fan.
Saying that, I withhold judgement. That is not for me to decide. I can only pray (and I will) that he is able to rest in peace. God Bless your soul Michael Jackson.
