OT: Portal Party - Syracuse Freshman PG Kadary Richmond
Syracuse fans will be pissed off to hear that 6-5 combo guard Kadary Richmond from Brooklyn, New York will be joining the Portal Party and departing from the shores of New York's Lake Onondaga. He played in every Syracuse game this season, averaged 21 minutes and 6.3 points, shot 45.3% from the floor and “(showed) a great dribble-drive ability and excellent passing as well.” LINK
I won't speculate as to whether Michigan would show any interest in him or whether he'd consider a move to Ann Arbor.
The NCAA Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal list continues to grow. LINK
I think by the end of this, the only news will be the guys who AREN'T in the portal.
Rumor has is that he was unhappy with his friendship with the coach’s son. Boeheim could be a buddy but he couldn’t.
Ehh...reluctant +1
He wasn't looking for a Buddy, he wanted a pal.
I would like to extend to you an invitation to the Portal Party.
Every time I read the words "Portal Party", I see "Porta Potty". HELP, my mind has gone to shit, but at least not to a cooler though.
I read Portal Sparty

I see "Poole Party" and think of a big shot from a few years ago.
Brick Tamland wants to know if that's anything like a Pants Party.
This is the first time I’ve looked at this listed and wasn’t surprised to see a lot of IU and Minn players but I was surprised to see any PSU player of any significance is in there as well as Jacob Young, Miller Kopp, and Nate Reuvers.
PSU's whole starting roster was in, immediately after the season concluded. Something to do with unhappiness with the AD, Sandy Barbour for poor communication with the players about Chambers, Ferry and the replacement coach selection process. I think Izaiah Brockington since going in the portal has withdrawn.
Guess I hadn’t heard that. Those three schools are really going to hurting just to fill a roster, a roster with any quality anyway. Looks like we’ll have 3 or 4 Nebraskas next year, not including Nebraska,
Half of those PSU players were out of regular eligibility anyway. They were going to use Covid eligibility. Team should have already been planning on replacing them.
Whoa. He's really good, and I was surprised he didn't get more minutes. Would definitely be a big-time add, especially if he can run point.
Is any school just going to make a new team entirely of players in the portal? Imagine they could field a pretty decent squad
grasping at memory which i think was in the round of 32, maybe a texas school, maybe an iowa school? it was in the NCAA's and the announcers said that every kid was a transfer.
I think it was the Texas team we played in our opener.
Didn't that used to be Iowa State's thing?
Yup, and that was Hoiberg who's now at Nebraska.
It looks like Minnesota will need to. They have their whole team in the portal.
Doesn't baylor get of a lot of transfers?!
Uh, I think the answer is Minnesota.
Nimari Burnett please. Thanks.
I guess I should have done more research.
Breaking: 2020 McDonald’s All-American and Texas Tech transfer Nimari Burnett tells @Stockrisers he will announce his college decision on April 8th.
He will choose between Illinois, USC, Vanderbilt, Oregon, Alabama, LSU, and Auburn.
Please choose Vandy, but I'm guessing the $$$ will lead to LSU or Auburn (I'm sure USC and Bama can find a McDonalds bag too).
Funny because during the recruiting process he was supposedly looking at Bama and Michigan and then abruptly decided on TX Tech. Now he has Bama in there but not Michigan. This is a family that Howard knows also so there must be more to the story. My guess is that he will end up at Illinois or Bama.
The more to the story is likely that we could have 1-2 5th/6th year players ahead of him at his position, plus we have recruited a McDonalds All-American at his position as well. On top of that there’s a top-100 rising sophomore and another top-50ish recruit. Not saying he couldn’t earn minutes, and we don’t know how many people on this year’s team will be here next year, but for a transfer looking to make a decision sooner than later, we aren’t the most attractive in terms of available guard minutes.
It's been reported that Juwan has not been in contact with Nimari. I can't remember the source, so I realize that isn't worth much, but it makes sense to me. If he wants a 5* that struggled as a freshman, Lander is available, interested and didn't bail on his team mid-season. If he wants a more proven player, there are several decent options. It's probably too early to be certain who's coming back and who's leaving off his own roster.
I remember Nimari Burnett was also high on UM radar. From Chicago, combo guard.
Insert - I won't speculate as to whether Michigan would show any interest in him or whether he'd consider a move to Ann Arbor.
I like Kristian Lander better. Also Collins looks like a ball control PG that’s tough to beat.
Matt has said that it most likely won’t happen. There is something off with this recruitment, Michigan was in the final 2 or 3 and now there is zero interest.
So if Brooks and Smith are not back next year, is there anyone in the portal for point guards that would be as good as Smith and/or Brooks? The only one I can see that may be a possibility is Russell from Rhode Island. I don’t like the idea of Zeb or Collins running the point next year.
Eventually every school will just draft a new team each year
I think Howard wants to pursue his own star point in the 22 class, which would be jeopardized if they bring in a 4-year player besides Collins at that position. Seems more likely he will be going after the rent-a-year market like Russel from URI.
Holy Crap, I thought PSU was losing a lot to the portal...Minny has 7 guys in the portal and Indiana has 5. Firing a coach is a bad idea in the age of the transfer portal.
Since the portal is as equally busy as high school recruiting, it would be nice to have some system to see what teams are pursuing which portal players. I have no idea who or if Michigan is pursuing anyone or if any of these kids have reached out.
I like the Transfer Portal, but most of it seems like chaff. A good pace for the less-talented and malcontents to self-delete.
It seems like a few of them in the portal are legit guys who have the goods to go to a much better situation, or legit guys who can go to a situation better for them at this point in their life, or they get better because they've used their mulligan. If your program is both desirable to them AND your program has its act together to find the talent in the portal, it can benefit both parties very much.
