OT: NDSU Bison use 4 fullbacks on rushing TD

Credit Bill Connelly for finding this, hope the embed works. I assume you would be hard pressed to find any team with 4 fullbacks on the roster let alone on the field at the same time. Fullbacks blocking for fullbacks sounds very Iowa.

I saw on some highlights that one of the commentators said that osu sometimes brings in an extra OL to give the qb time to find guys down field and routes to develop. Wonder if a wrinkle like that would do well for us, since most assume that equals... pound up the middle.

I'm not an X's and O's guy but, I do notice that WRs are flying open down field on crossing patterns, out patterns etc.. and not always catching it and falling down... for other teams. Our guys tend to be catching and immediately needing to change direction, catching in traffic and getting hit, or catching and falling down.

Not criticizing but always wonder how QBs and WRs on some of these other teams have guys flying open all over the place. Wondering if we try to get the ball out of JJ's hands quicker...

Harbaugh when he got his first job:

"When I got my first coaching job at the University of San Diego I called my coach, Bo Schembechler and told him I was head coach at the University of San Diego, before he said ‘congratulations’ or anything he said, ‘Jimmy, tell me you’re going to have a tight end that puts his hand in the ground on every snap. Tell me that you will have a fullback that lines directly behind the quarterback and a halfback in the I-formation.’" Harbaugh replied, "‘Yes coach, we will have that.’" To which Schembechler said, "‘Good. Congratulations on getting the job."

Sounds like an idea worth exploring. I mean, the physical challenge is to bring as much pressure to bear at some point along the line as you can. A line is a line; the ball-carrier has to cross it at some point. Why not put another guy behind it? Might be missing something, but I wouldn't be surprised if this gets adopted. Could reduce the number of successful goal line stands?
