OT: Michigan vs. Michigan State Poll on Facebook
ok this might seem a little corny but facebook has a poll up right now asking which is better michigan or michigan state. we're not getting killed but we're not doing good. right now michigan has 47% of the vote. so if you have facebook and had an extra 30 seconds go and vote for michigan. here is the link: http://apps.facebook.com/realpolls/feed_vote/ydiompad6

a comment there also. it seems like there aren't any michgan fans posting comments and its being over ran by sparties. i posted a comment telling sparty not to get their hopes up for beating michigan this year.
Perhaps because Michigan students/alumni have better things to do with their time..like MGoBlog! (the elitist in me coming out)

Considering this is a nation-wide (or world-wide, I guess) poll, the fact that UM is losing is pretty surprising. If it were only in the state of Michigan, I could see. But outside of MSU alums and outside the state of Michigan, who in the world would be an MSU fan??? I've never met one, that's for sure.
All it means is there are way more MSU students with lots of time to waste.
don't regard Facebook polls as remotely important. Spending time at MGoBlog is of course completely different.
I still find it amazing that many of them think that beating Michigan during our worst year in decades suddenly equals a new sheriff in town.

on the one hand, michigan is the sweetest, most awesomest ever. on the other hand, state sucks the hardest of all. that's about as compelling of an argument as i can make. so go and vote - i'm pretty sure this is factored into the directors cup standings.

I was in Saugatuck Saturday, waiting to use the can machine at a grocery, and had the following conversation with a woman in her 40's wearing a MSU sweatshirt:
Woman (eying my M shirt): So how is Michigan's football team going to be this year?
Me: Ok. They're getting better.
Woman: State won last year.
Me: mmmm.
Woman: My father played on the first team that beat Michigan the year they were allowed into the Big Ten. You know that Michigan wouldn't let them in the Big Ten? They voted against them.
Me: mmmm.
Woman: You probably wouldn't know anything about that.
Me: No, I know that they were good in the sixties. They had Bubba Smith, for one.
Woman: Ya, he kicked the field goal to win the Rose Bowl!
Me: Yep.

So full of fail, all caps, blue and gold, more better, no punctuation save for two excllamation points, and more better again.
Did anyone else get an IQ Test app directly below the voting block on that link? It would be so funny if every voter took the test and the app posted the average scores for the two sides.
But then again, who knows if the scores wouldn't come out balanced, or if Sparty poll-taking facebookers would average higher than Blue poll-taking facebookers. I'd still be interested to see those results. It'd be like on Maury: 'The test results are in; Sparty, you ARE dumber than a wolverine!'

I participated in that poll, and made the most compelling argument as to why Michigan, as an overall institution, is leagues ahead of MSU in every way, but the Sparties never fail to make a lame attempt to counter my logical reasoning.
That's State for you.
In any event, if winning a Facebook poll makes their day, I'll give that to them. If they win that, I'll gladly take football/basketball/hockey etc. I remind them that they have the worst academics in the Big Ten: that shuts them up pretty quick.
