O/T Michigan Adventure

Submitted by chomz14 on
So thinking of taking my little ones to michigan adventure tomorrow. They're 8-7 took them to Cedar Point last year but I felt they were just too young for the cool stuff and for the price M/A offers with the 2 parks for $35 I'm thinking this might be worth the ride west. Anyone have any reviews? Maybe tips? Should we do the ride park first then the water park? Is it just awful and not worth it? Any suggestions or advice would be cool. Thanks

Michigan's Adventure for 8 and 7 year olds is good. I took some teens there last month and it was only okay for them. your kids might not get to do all the "cool" rides, but there's far more options for that age.

I think it is more that we have to temper the discussion because of our recent record against both Cedar Point and Michigan Adventure. It's quite alright to believe that we could beat both of them, but we actually have to do that before we really ramp up the "they're done" or "the rivalry is as it should be" talk.

Still OT season and the OP is trying to solicit reviews from the the community here specifically. Yes he could go to their website or use yelp but I often trust and respect the mgoblog bretheren just as much, if not more, than review websites.

Besides he's asking for advice/opinions on something. Not a "Where is the UM bar in ____" type question with a finite and fixed answer.

Sure did tough tits. And Google was fine. But since I have more im common with a bunch of you and not a bunch of soccer mom's. I thought maybe I could get some better suggestions here. And I did. Thanks for all the help. Sorry this post is about A 15 year old running back we may or may not get it in a few years.

Michigan's Adventure is a lot of fun. I'll admit that I haven't been with kids that young but I'm sure they would enjoy the water park and probably a few of the roller coasters. You should go for it.

Go to the water park right when it opens which I believe is a bit after the park opens. Otherwise it gets way too busy and the only stuff that wouldn't have huge huge lines is the lazy river and wave pool.

my kids have had fun. Lots of kids around here love it. if they are tall enough, they can do all the rides. my 6yo can do all but one. we get there at 10am, usually let in by 1030, rides start at 11, water park at 1. we always stay till close.

When I was that age and didn't like large coasters MI's Adventure was definitely my preferred choice, largely due to the water park. They have some nice rides in the actual park for those ages too.

Haven't been lately. but as kids, my grandparents started taking us there back when it was "Deer Park Fun Land". I'd say from age 5 to 15 I enjoyed it. by the time I was in my teens, Cedar Point was far better

Go to the park. Then the rides then the park then the rides and then the park and then the rides. It's worth it then the rides and then the park it's worth it trust me and then the rides.

and could do every ride in the water park and amusement park except one. We go every year and are in the water park until it closes and then finish the day in the amusement park. As stated above, it's great for the younger kids. I have four boys between 7 and 15 and the oldest still loves it. Funnel of Fear and Shivering Timbers...must do both!

Michigan's Adventure has added a lot of good rides in recent years as they are now a Cedar Fair property (same ownership as Cedar Point). They have some pretty good coasters, several which are smaller versions of the great CP coasters. The water park is a lot of fun too. It's well worth taking kids from that age up until teens and then they'll get really interested in the bigger rides at CP.

Place is great for young kids. I've went 10 yrs in a row. Water Park is great. Only a few rides are Cedar Point worthy but it's for small kids not you. Food sucks so I would recommend eating a nice meal before going in park at 11. You can go in and out to your car so bring a few snacks to munch on to keep energy up. We go on Monday to cut down on crowds.

We're actually heading up there for a couple of days this week. Our daughter is 8. We did cedar point last year so I'm hoping my daughter has more rides she can enjoy.

went to h.s. with the owners of Deer Park, who eventually sold to Cedar Point, but still manage it. A good pal used to operate the Ferris Wheel as a summer job. He claims to have seen the finest/worst tattoo on a rider that read: "Happiness is a wet pussy." that said, they may still be young for shivering timbers, but they'll love the water park.

I loved that park and was sad when it closed . I happen to be trying to find some old pictures and info on it but didn't find much besides mainly just the wiki page. Looks like it closed in 1998 and the rising popularity of Michigans Adventures water park was the main cause of it closing . I loved that ride there with the boogie board that went straight into the lake

Our school went there in high school for a beginning of the school year kickoff in the early 90's and clogged up the lazy river so bad, that we had jam piles of tubes and kids stuck under tubes almost drowning.  Our school was told by park authority not to plan on returning in the future.

Perfectly sized to do it all in one day. Reasonably priced. Well maintained. Used to take my kids there every year and they loved it -- which was difficult since their was a seven year age gap between oldest to youngest. Definitely do the front part first and the back (water park) section second
