Hilarious introductory presser that also gets me fired up. I know the lions will always suck, but I hope his pressers will always be this entertaining.

Matty would say, “From the standpoint of toughness, we’re going to be tough, in those aspects, and with respect to winning, obviously we are going to be improving on an everyday basis, from that standpoint, in order to be competitive regarding the expectations we hold ourselves accountable to and the high standards we will set for ourselves and this organization will continue to expect, as far as those aspects go”

Fast forward to us being down 38-13 with 4 mins left in the 3rd Qtr....I like the energy and toughness, but bottomline, get some goddamn talent in here.

Seems like everyone’s “Uncle Rick”- kinda guy who chews Grizzly mint, wears a 15 year old Carhartt jacket and drives a rusty, old pick up with a hound dog in the passenger seat. He’s also been in jail a few times and always needs to tell you he’s “been around the block” a time or two.

That said, I’m sure he can inspire change more so than his predecessor. Or God help us for the next 6 years...

Intrigued...never heard of biting off kneecaps.

I think the first one could be done from sheer surprise and shock, but two? I'm not sure but I believe the second one would be much more difficult to achieve. Probably have to resort to some aggressive clawing and pinching.

Love this guy already... but wonder if the NFL HQ punishes him for talking about intent to injure.

While entertaining, I don’t feel encouraged by the meathead as leader vibe he gives off. I know nothing about his X’s and O’s Acumen, but he feels a lot more Brady Hoke to me than I’d prefer. An inability to filter swear words in a press conference is a red flag. Some people would say it’s refreshing. I’d argue it is a sign of lack of impulse control, which is something you want for a leader of a successful, focused organization.

Becoming overcome with emotion on reflecting upon your personal life journey and being a meathead who likes to yell "FOOTBAW VIOLENCE GOOD" are definitely not the same thing.

For me, the problem with coaches like the latter is not necessarily "impulse control," it's that they tend to be believers in feelingsball. The Urban Meyers and Andy Reids of the world will eat you for lunch (maybe literally) if that is who you are.

I share this reaction with you. As the face of the organization, he needs to know how to read a room and tailor his tone to the audience. This stuff is fine in the locker room but comes off really weird when speaking to the public. I hope the guy works out but I have no reason to believe he will given the history of this organization and the impression he made today.

Clearly he knows about the hidden rule that the team with the most intact knee caps at the end of the match, wins.

I'm sure the handful of overly agro "manball" types will love it.  Can't wait for his eventual firing in 3 seasons.
