OT: Greg Davis Retiring at Iowa

Submitted by jimmyshi03 on

Greg Davis, the man who coached Vince Young at Texas before becoming OC there and seeing the offense fall apary post-Colt McCoy, is retiring from the same position at Iowa, where he's been for five years.

If you follow a lot of Iowa folks on Twitter, as I do, you know they have major issues with Davis's offense. I don't imagine Ferentz would go too far afield, in terms of philosophy, but it may be interesting, since they're kind of starting over with Beathard leaving.

How has there been no discussion on here about a replacement for Fisch? I havent heard anything since the day he announced he was going to UCLA, aside from a brief mention of Pep Hamilton on the WTKA Roundtable thread.

Seems like all the Harris hysteria is covering up the coaching search.  Is Harbaugh just sticking to crootin' right now?

Harbaugh had told the offensive recruits and their parents about some of his targets. Most of the names being tossed around are former assitants (Pep Hamilton, Greg Roman). Seems as though he may just be waiting for recruiting to be over before he nails it down.

Personally, I'd love for Erik Campbell to come back into the fold. Dude has had a TON of great recievers in his time at Michigan and even when he was at Iowa.  Wouldn't surprise me for him to pluck a recently fired coach from the NFL.

last year. Just sruprised we haven't been hearing any more news about possible interviews or anything.  There is a lot of coaching movement going on right now. Maybe the delay is due to him looking at someone who is still working? Either in the Pro's or on Clemson or Bama's staff?
