OT: Friday Night / Weekend Drinking Thread

Submitted by drjaws on March 27th, 2020 at 9:55 PM

Well, we’re all stuck inside.  No sports.  No golf.  Empty nester so not much to do but kill the virus with alcohol.

Got home from work at 8pm and already downed a 6-pack of Oberon and now putting back a few PBRs before I go for some Bells Hopslam and Founders Double Trouble.

Whats in your glass tonight?

My crush: " 'cuse me, I think someone wrote ponyfreak on your backpack. "

Me: " I, uh how... "

Had Negro Modelo with lime while grinding on some moose tacos. Followed by a Kir for dessert. I will likely break out the Middleton Very Rare 2018 to finish the evening.

Just water in my glass, although I did smoke a joint and take a shot of tussonex. And some prednisone. And levaquin. Because I have "bronchitis".

Probably should have taken the cough medicine first.

“Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have OWNERS. They OWN you. They own everything. They own all the important land, they own and control the corporations that've long since bought and paid for, the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pocket, and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and the information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else. But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them.”

I finally have something interesting for one of these posts. 2007 Rodney Strong Reserve Cab Sauv. I was worried it might be getting a little old. I'm not a big wine drinker, but I don't mind the occasional glass. Anyway, I looked through my wine mini-fridge and noticed one of the three bottles was dated 2007. I understand that good quality wines properly stored in a wine cellar can last decades, but this is neither, so I thought I better take care of it tonight.

Probably grabbing a Pipestone Mai-bock, but maybe not.  When I open the fridge in about 15 mins, all doubt will be removed.  I do have 1 last Hopslam.....
