Is it the youth of America or just that this is the world we live in with social media and technology? I'm sure other beloved sports stars and college athletes wouldn't have the same luster if their every move was video taped etc. York and Mixon are both in the wrong I'm just sticking up for America's youth.

A lot of these kids have been hyped up now since they were in junior high...so many come in acting like entitled d-bags. That being said I lived with several Michigan athletes when I went to school...and if there was social media back then...several of them might not have finished their careers at Michigan.

This kid cold cocked a girl in the face. York is no saint but he also didn't hit a woman. So calm yourself Kanye.

Eh, if the girl was the same size as the guy York hit, then you might have a case. Is it the same when a 6'6" dude hits someone his own size vs hitting some scrawny 150 pound guy? Nope.

The biggest reason hitting a woman is wrong is because it's usually a physical mismatch. If that wasn't the case with Mixon, then you're right.

Looks like they always give guys second chances.

"Representing the University of Michigan is a privilege and, while second chances are certainly deserved, sometimes it’s better for everyone if that happens somewhere else."

Hitting a girl is way different then hitting a guy. As a police officer I find someone who would ever hit a girl to be lower than dirt. This piece of shit should never have the privilege to play football anywhere

Yes it is a sucker punch to an innocent person. It isn't a bar fight were the other guy is throwing punches back. Both are dick moves and thug behavior. A football player tends to be much stronger than a normal guy and a woman. Not sure why you would give less sympathy to a male victim of a sucker punch than a female victim. I don't hit girls. I don't hit guys.

With respect to the victim in the York case. That situation was heated, it looked that way from the begining. I believe York's actions were definitely wrong, but there isn't any reason the victim should have been confident walking through that situation after smack talking was already done.  Absolutely no way he should have done that with his hands in his pockets! Please be aware of your surroundings, and please learn to read situations!

There is video and the girl (who has some history of wrongdoing) supposedly slapped and spit on Mixon.

After Mixon's lawyer saw the video they filed a suit against the woman.

FWIW, I though Joe Mixon was the best running back in the class. Not that it should change how the legal process is handled or anything, but that's the kind of talent that OU and college are losing because of stupid behavior.

Damn, OU is getting blasted this off season on the PR front. Mixon punching a woman in the face, trying to get DBG eligible after his altercation with the woman back up in Mizzou, and that LB who's figthing the sexual assualt allegations. It's not exactly Boomer Sooner* these days.

*I don't really know what "Boomer Sooner" means or how to use it appropriately in a sentence.

this post started, but it is an interesting comparison. I think bottom line is that we've got two similar cases of kids that made a mistake and schools reacting to it a bit differently. Hopefully they both use this as a wake up call and learn from their mistakes.
