...not saying they weren't talented musicians...but they are one of those bands I just don't get...I lump them in with Steely Dan, Primus, Radio Head or Kanye...music that just annoys me, but people will go to the highest mountain top to proclaim their genius/greatness.

Rush is like the Trent Dilfer-led Super Bowl winning Baltimore Ravens team, with Geddy Lee's vocals being the equivalent of Dilfer at QB. The other pieces of the Ravens team were so good (especially the defense) that all Dilfer had to do was not screw up. The musicianship, for lack of a better word, of Peart on drums (greatest technical drummer) Lifeson on lead guitar and Geddy on bass/synth is unmatched. When you hear a Rush song, you instantly know that's a Rush song. They had a style all their own that they copied from Zeppelin and others, but they put their Canadian-spin on it and made it truly unique. And they weren't afraid of reinventing themselves, several times over.

+1 for Melt With You.  I gave this cassette tape single (yes kids, that used to be a real thing) to my middle school girlfriend...through intermediaries, of course.  Her and I didn't actually talk much while we were"going out" for those few weeks.  All communication was done through her friends.  Haha
