OT - ESPNU College Town
I know this is inseason, so this may be a little too OT. However, being a bye week and having been inundated with commercials during every game I thought maybe it would slide..
I just signed up for college town on facebook, and associated myself with UM. Almost immediately I noticed you could buy the horseshoe and add it, but I don't see the Big House anywhere.
Has anyone played enough to tell me if its just a matter of time till it unlocks, or if it just isnt in the game?

I tried it and quit after 15 minutes.

Turn it in.

What women are playing this game? I think it's geared towards guys. I enjoy it, and I'm not ashamed.

Geared towards guys - yes.
However, I can only imagine that this game is like one of those "Farm Town" (or whatever it is called) apps on Facebook. The only thing I know about those apps is they are the best way to get me to block you in my news feed. Also, they seem to be played by mostly women, who I know to either be: ugly, not very intelligent, and have a lot of free time on their hands.
So, in response to those games rather large (?) success, I believe this is why ESPN developed the college town game.
What is its market? Probably young males (grade school), or guys in high school / college who fit the description above I mentioned for females. I cannot imagine a man out of college wasting his time with this crap.

And it was done.

As a guy out of college (albeit for only 5 months) I can vouch that we do play this. With no kids or family, what else am I to do when I get home in between reading MGoBlog threads? It's not that lame.

through dozens of psychotic girlfriends and pub crawls - really? you are just of of college and you don't know what to do with yourself?

I can understand iPhone games while on the subway or something but dude come on... Go out get laid drink lol

Haha come on, guys! A man can't do that every night! Weekends are fun, don't worry. Just saying, while watching sports or something and surfing the web, it's something to distract yourself with. I'm not a World of Warcraft freak. ...Thank God.

I might waste a lot of time on here, ESPN.com, whatever - but under no circumstances would I ever play a facebook "game". Not even if it is one that ESPN provides.

ugly, not very intelligent, and have a lot of free time on their hands.

I don't think this is as strong of an argument as you think it is because you are including girls that are hot, smart, and bored - a fantastic combination.

Facebook is a female thing. My wife and daughters are on it - my son and I have no interest.
It's like Oprah, Days of Our Lives, the "Today" show and other female orientated media.

Guys can use it to creep on chicks that they don't have the chance to sleep with.

Um, this next week is going to be slow as hell. Is it time to beat up PSU in Happy Valley yet?
And to answer your question, I have no idea, it seems like a waste of time, IME. Now time spent on Xbox is not time wasted.

I haven't seen it either, and I would be most peeved except for the fact that I do not have the $85 in special College Town monies to get it. But yeah, what gives?
ETA: Thankfully my man card is moot--never had one.

I was going to play it, until i realized it was a facebook app, so I declined. I don't like facebook apps. If it weren't for Mgoblog, i'd be a facebook junkie. Thanks MGoBlog!

If it weren't for cocaine I'd be a marijuana junkie.

If it weren't for sex, I'd be a masturbation junkie.
Oh, wait!

I don't know if the Big House will be in or not. But by the time you get $85 to buy it, you will probably not care about the game anymore. I got lucky, ESPN had an ad on their home page a couple days ago and gave me Alabama's stadium as a free gift.
October 22nd, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
that as well and was not happy w/ it. how do they not have the big house?? But I think since the game is relatively new they will eventually have it. Don't take any crap it's actually pretty fun to play and i know a lot of guys that play it.
October 22nd, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
You know, they also lack a LIBRARY so in retrospect maybe it makes sense that they lack a Big House. They know they're not up to U-M standards yet.
They'll sell you a Block M and a hideous bronze wolverine in the interim, but before they put together a Big House, they better make some books available.
Not such an issue for the Horseshoe, of course.

Michigan fans are a really diverse bunch.
October 22nd, 2010 at 3:05 PM ^
I think the simple answer is that you should play some video games that are actually well designed and fun.
October 22nd, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
I'm completely obsessed with this game and I have a simple answer -
The Big House is just way too big to be contained in a Facebook app.
That's all I got.

will be heisting various building supplies to complete it in no time. Please respond to gift requests!

Farmville for NCAAF fans. Why not, these games are the backbone of our economy.
