OT: The early games - Iowa v Kentucky, and Bama v Kansas State

Submitted by Amazinblu on December 31st, 2022 at 10:06 AM

A lot of focus, rightfully so, on the CFP games this afternoon and evening.  There are two earlier games that many may watch before the game we’re most interested in kicks off.

Comments, thoughts, and perspectives on the other games: Iowa v  Kentucky, and Bama v Kansas State.

Enjoy…

Uh, definitely not off OT.

I may be alone in this but Bama-KSU feels a little like a 4p preview. Big strong OL against the 3-3-5 (ish). Fast D against a multifaceted O with a running QB.

Damn, I just can’t wait.

KSt with the ultimate trick play - put your starter in as the backup after the backup became the starter when an injury made the starter the backup.

Boom! Iowa's defense pulls out to a seven point lead over Iowa's offense. With only two quarters remaining, it's hard to see the offense overcoming this deficit.

Those 3 points would have been helpful right now.  Keep it to just a one-score game.

Alabama gets the ball to start the second half too.

I have to say I'm enjoying Bama steamrolling K State right now. It has nothing to do with Bama winning, and everything to do with Bama (a team more on UM's level) trucking K State (a team evenly matched with TCU). Not gonna say it's a "sign" for later this afternoon, but it is nice to see for that reason.

One can’t help but feel a certain empathy for teams that face Iowa in bowl games. It’s like witnessing a virus that we have grown a resistance against enter and ravage a completely unsuspecting and unprotected civilization.

Any confidence that TCU may have gained by a strong KSU performance against an elite CFP team . . . is gone.

The Big 12 just miiight not be all that good you guys.

Glad Bama didn’t make the playoff.

Second loss to LSU could be a life saver for us.

Healthy UGA and healthy Bama are the only teams that scare me on neutral field, given overall talent and line play.

As tough as OSU would be to beat twice in a year, they can’t just grow an O and D line in 3 weeks.  Bama missing the playoff obviously opens the door a bit more for us.

Iowa-UK: 17 punts, 15 1st downs, yikes!

4 for 28 combined on 3rd and 4th down conversions.

Cade and Erick (if healthy) can't possibly be worse than this bunch.

I am pulling for Bama is for no other reason their stars (Young and Anderson) chose to play. Meanwhile, we had guys like Higdon sit out our bowl game a few years ago and not get drafted.

Listening to Louis Riddick bitch about Iowa is hilarious.  This is what they do!  Put LaPorta in at QB on 3rd and 2 to have him run into the pile for no gain?  Yep!

They’re completely content to punt.  Oh, and the two pick sixes were not a fluke!  That’s what they do SEC!

ESPN never fails to let facts get in the way of a story.  Iowa is up 21-0 and all they talk about is how great Kentucky’s defense is.

I just checked out the Iowa game.

AGAIN, their defense is outscoring the opponent's offense AND their own offense.

Imagine if Iowa had an actual offense.

Reading the first page comments on Alabama is hilarious.  Hopefully our fans can be slightly chill if TCU hits some big plays early or (gasp) takes a lead.
