OT: DeQuinta Jones
Not to bring up a sore subject, but there's a blurb in here about DeQuinta Jones, one that got away last year:

I don't recall him being considered an instant-impact player.
It also mentions Ronnie Wingo, who had Michigan as one of his leaders early on. I really wanted Wingo to come play running back for us.

I'm not sad that he passed on Michigan. A Wingo ate my baby...
Wasn't he the drummer for the Beatles?
It also mentions Darius Winston, who, if memory serves, strongly considered UM while, committing, decommitting, the re-committing to Arkansas.
I'm happy for Jones, but jealous and unhappy for us. We'd be a lot better off defensively if he was here.

If it weren't for old girlfriends, I wouldn't have any at all.

Dequinta Jones...
#25 DT, 4* in Rivals
#60 DT, 3* in Scout
Rodriguez (and Petrino) felt he was better than the recruiting services rated him. Sounds familiar.

At least we got Richard Ash, Jibreel Black and Terry Talbott.

Yeah, that's a bummer. But we got BWC out of that class, and now we really only use 1 DT at a time (maybe 2?). With the guys we brought in this year, I feel much less bad about it.

Are there any issues between Petrino and Rodriguez?
Mallet transfered there.
They poached DeQuinta Jones.
That same year Darius Winston committed to Arkansas then flirted with Michigan only to end up signing with Arkansas.
The next year the same thing happened with Jatashun Beachum.
Petrino and Rodriguez both coached in the Big East at the same time. (2005 & 2006).
I know I'm probably reading way too much into this but I thought I'd mention it.

Sounds like a similar relationship between Rod and Mark Damntonio.
While Jones looks to be a strong DT. However, the DT decommit that still makes me weap is Pearlie Graves. The guy's head shot alone makes me tremble in fear. Based simply on his photo, one would not be out of line to predict that Pearlie Graves wins a minumum of one heisman.
While Jones looks to be a strong DT. However, the DT decommit...I see you employ the "what not to do when you want to write a complete sentence" strategy.
What I find interesting is
five-star recruit Darius Winston could be ready to blossom at corner as a sophomore.I hope we can say the same for our 5* rs frosh, JT Turner. D Jones stats do not jump off the page considering
DT DeQuinta Jones: He was one of the best true freshman defenders in years at Arkansas in 2009. Jones was a starter before an ankle injury caused him to miss the bowl game. He finished with 24 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.Indicative of how hard it is to contribute as a freshman.
I don't care much about guys that don't play for Michigan, or picked to go play somewhere else. I wish him no ill will, of course, but I care more about the guys that are here now, not those who "almost" were...
These kids are not leaving the South as long as SEC and/or Big 12 schools offer them also. Usually a waste of time. if you get one kid, you think you can get more but usually wrong.
