What is Dark Lord Day? (Asked sincerely)
April 27th, 2016 at 11:02 PM ^
I remember when I was the apprentice of the dark lord of the sith. But then obi wan cut me in half. Once mother talzin restored my mind I went for revenge.
April 27th, 2016 at 11:22 PM ^
Darth Gucci Mane? Is that you?

You were not cut in half. Had that happened, you would not be alive. It was just your legs that were cut in half along with another hand being chopped.

he was referring to Darth Maul.

Lulz I was just reading this thread on BeerAdvocate. Jealous a little bit of missing out on a variant but man, it was my first time last year and I'll fully admit the weather was a bitch and dampened my fun. It looks like it'll be the same and I can't say I'll miss that. I'll try and trade for a couple bottle of regular DL to keep the vertial going.

Ill trade a regular.

No problem. Added ya. (I'm in Iowa, if you're a hop head I have access to Toppling Goliath!).
Sorry to butt in to your conversation here, but Toppling Goliath got my attention. Not a hop head by any stretch, but I'm a huge stout guy, and I've heard wonderful things about KBBS, Mornin' Delight, SR-71, etc. I know these aren't easy to get your hands on, probably regardless of how close you live, but any chance you have "access to" any of these or have one or more in your possession that you would be willing to part with?

this isn't about He-who-must-not-be-named, then?

Maybe Saturday we find out that there is one remaining horcrux.

Cool event, but Dark Lord beer itself, eh, not so much. The variants are better, but honestly even those are overhyped. For example, BVDL: not nearly the beer that Vanilla Rye or FO is.
Enjoy.
Meanwhile in Tillamook...
Anniversary party going on or something?! Any idea of what goes on at said event?!
Wasn't able to make it this year, bummed but at least I will make Holy Mountains release. Hooray for small victories.

In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie...
You know, the weird thing about Dark Lord Day is that you want to bring the Dark Lord flowers or perhaps some donuts or bagels for the entire workgroup, but you can't quite bring yourself to do it because perhaps that will be seen as weakness and you will be dealt with appropriately, usually with a spell that turns you into something quite useless, much in line with the Dark Lord's view of you.
April 28th, 2016 at 12:05 AM ^
How about Shorts Anniversary Party? Anyone going to that. I went last year and it was a blast.
April 28th, 2016 at 10:03 AM ^
When is that? Is it going to be in Bellaire?
April 28th, 2016 at 10:18 AM ^
Also Saturday, 4p-10p in Bellaire.
About damn time they made a holiday for me
Does anyone else think that sometimes things just get plain weird here?

especially during OT season. Let's get weird!!
Nah, I'm gonna hang out and do things that matter.

Have fun, folks.
I'm not sure I'd ever go to DLD or Huna Day. Not that I don't like imperial stouts, but I can't see myself pursuing them to that extent. I'd love to hear about your experiences though.
Definitely thought this was going to be some Harry Potter holiday that somehow I wasn't aware of...
I went last year and it was an awesome time. As a tip, bring along a couple of rare bottles of different kinds if you have them. There is a big tradition of swapping sips in the lines, so if your willing to let some strangers try whatever you have, you can pretty much try every other kind of rare beer on earth. Good luck on getting a golden ticket!
Hope the weather holds up
I love Three Floyds but only get a few types down here in Louisville.
I've only ever had Gumball Head, Robert the Bruce and Dreadnaught.
Hoping for some Zombie Dust some day... never even heard of Dark Lord.
April 28th, 2016 at 11:33 AM ^
Zombie Dust in incredible. I always go out of my way to grab some on the way to/from Chicago. Definitely one of my favorite IPAs.
April 28th, 2016 at 11:52 AM ^
It says on their site that it is a "year round beer." If I swing by the brewery on my way up to Michigan (I drive up to nearly every home game) would they normally have it? Or is it one of those things like Founders KBS where it is there today and gone today?
is not dark, but as to the beer you are discussing, do they make any type of true ale/bitters/lager?
OP name should have been Tom Riddle

In fact, I am trying to find someone to pick up my extra Group D ticket because one of my buddies dropped out.
Hey, what is your email address? I am in Group D as well and have a friend that would be thrilled to have that ticket.
