Brett McMurphy dropped this gem today: he asked each D-1 football head coach who his favorite band/musician is.

A few interesting selections that stood out to me:

Jim Harbaugh- Bob Marley;  I did not see that one coming. Figured he was a classic rock type.

Jim McElwain- Earth, Wind and Fire; how is this not Great White?!?!

David Shaw- Sade; so smooth.

Nunzio Campanile- Billy Joel; wow...hard to get more Jersey than this match!

See anything else that is fun?

By the same token, I have a hard time believing Kevin Sumlin (age 55), who gave the same answer.  Was also pleased to see Frankie Beverly and Maze getting some love from the coaches.

lulz America is a completely different musical act than Neil Young.  Admittedly I learned in my teens that it wasn't a Neil Young song because it does sound like him in a sense.  But, this is funny!

I'm old enough to remember Neil Young and America the first time around, so two takeaways:

I can never hear Neil Young's name without thinking of George Carlin's bit where he named a musical act "Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young, Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Sacco and Vanzetti."

And as long as I live, I will never understand why he didn't just name the damn horse.

Ed Orgeron listing CCR makes so much sense. A guy who literally looks and sounds like he crawled out of a bayou swamp lists a band that writes songs extensively about the bayou.

Ironically enough, I don't think any of those guys are actually from the bayou or Louisiana. John Fogerty is from Berkeley, of all places.
