It's funny that you mention it, because I believe Morris was in fact interviewed for the Texas Tech position and then was passed over in favor of Kingsbury. It would be interesting to see him bring that offense into the Big 12 and complete the circle of teams that can, when running on all cyclinders, put up prolific numbers on each other. Of course, it might be a couple years before Morris' power run is even feasible at SMU - they are in a bit of a bad way, by most accounts.

I completely disagree on regard to Kingsbury. TT wants butts in seats if they can't be a major power and I think they think he can turn them into a Baylor level program. However, I think they know his offense well keep people coming when it's running well. He's young and a beloved son of TT, much like Fitzgerald:NW. I think he's there until 2020 at least.

the "Bragging Rights Bunch" that is so strong in that area is well documented. I can't discount that but I do think it is a good comparison with Fitz/NW (again, opinion so I could be wrong). I think he'll get it going and I also think TT would put up with a 7 win a year team that is dangerous on any given Saturday. If he creates a team that can beat anyone on any given day but tends to yield consistent 7-8 win teams, he'll be there until 2020, IMO. Though, the reemergence of Texas and potentially SMU could hinder that with the famous Dallas/Houston bragging brigades that give outrageous sums of money to the schools. Especially with Baylor & TCU tossed in there and crushing it.....

I don't think that Michigan will look like the dicks that are everything to do with Nebraska.  That administration is thinking it is the 90's again.

There will be a graceful exit.  Hoke did not succeed, but let's react in somewhat of a dignified manner.

Getting fired from a top level position is no fun.  One feels disgraced.

Firing someone is no fun.  One has feelings for the person who is then left with no job.

by all accounts Hoke is a great guy. Firing a good man is never easy. Being fired is never easy. Nobody thinks Hoke tried to fail. A part of me does say "take a bit if time, give him as respectable an exit as possible" but then I remember that no matter WHO Hoke is, he was paid MILLIONS to do something he failed miserably at. I won't even go into the Morris issue, Gibbons, etc. To not know about Moris (if he truly didn't) because he refuses to wear a headset AND/OR is that out of mind while coaching is shameful. As for Gibbons, I think he knew the allegations, correct? At the very least he played him beyond knowing and then when off the team said it was "a family issue". I'll give an assumed pass as I don't know when he knew for sure. So, outside of being atrocious as our HC while making millions he did have some other issues that transcend the game that he handled very poorly or not at all. In summary, I funny think he deserves anything more than anyone else being fired. I think they wait until after the banquet but he doesn't "deserve" anything, IMO. Mind you, I like the guy as a person!

They just played their last game yesterday.

They have an Interim A.D.

They have a President who doesn't understand sports.

Their Interim A.D. was a CEO, not an A.D. before.

Michigan has no clue how to handle things.

They only have one coaching candidate.

That coaching candidate is not available yet.

That coaching candidate may not come here.

Brady Hoke is a nice guy.

Brady Hoke isn't getting fired.

Oh, fuck.

It doesn't relate to us directly or indirectly.  This guy has nothing to do with UM, never did and never will.

I am not into negbanging though.

I guess I am just not that big of a fan to get excited about this kind of news.

but then had a similar notion as Justin above. He's from Texas and the state can easily support a strong SMU. If you turn that program into a power in today's CFB world it's only a matter of time before one of the BIG Texas (even Oklahoma) jobs are offered. He could have done better from an outsider perspective but for him it makes sense.

Phew. So we can scratch SMU off the list of our coaching candidate competitors.

Sadly, considering how Michigan's last two coaching changes unfolded, and that I am still waiting on signs that this time will be different, I have to say that comment was only partly in jest.

I'd say the East is the better division.  OSU and MSU might be the two best teams but after that it's pretty slim pickings in the East - Michigan, PSU, Maryland, Rutgers and Indiana.

If you give OSU and MSU the top 2 spots in the conference, the next 3 spots probably go to the West - Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, and you could possibly make the case Iowa gets the 6th spot.

Part of why Briles has done so well at Baylor is that HS coaches want a fellow former HS coach to succeed. They want the "HS HC to College" to be a standard thing for successful HS coaches the same way the move up from college to pro happens for successful college coaches. Morris is going to get a bump in recruiting based on that alone.
