I would imagine if you were to go to a BW you would find it.
Nope. Cost is apparently $5100 per BW. Only 2 locations in MI carrying it (GR and EL). I think this topic came up before.
I read somewhere that Buffalo Wild Wings definitely will NOT be showing it. Sorry, don't have more info, but maybe that saved you a trip.
Any that are will most likely charge a cover.
That is strange. It just seems like whenever you go in there they have at least a few screens devoted to showing the most random sports, like underwater dodgeball. You'd think they would want to show something like this.
Each location has to pay $5000 for rights to show it. They weren't willing to pay it.
Buffalo Wild Wings showed the last Anderson Silva UFC fight. I can't imagine they would not show the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.
aren't showing it man. The big time boxing matches cost way more money for these places than UFC. There will be a handful of places in Michigan that show it but not more than that.

I tried Frasier's and Charley's and they both will not be having it, along with BDubs.
and ordered it.
Places in Maryland/DC are charging $10-100 per person, and the venues will most likely be packed.
Do not feel like going to a bar at 9 to stake out a place. Much rather sit at home, drinking my own bourbon/IPAs and watch the fight in glorious HD.
Get off my lawn.
I was going back and forth on it then I started watching some of their previous fights again on HBO and Showtime. I am getting it. Watching their styles, I think this has the potential to be a much better fight than a lot of people think.
On a side note, I know Mayweather is getting lead billing and Mayweather promotions is the lead promoter, but I seriously really hope that what is on-screen looks like an HBO production. Showtime is Brutal.
That in order for a bar to show they fight, they must pay $25*(maximum occupancy). So finding a bar to show this fight will be rare. Best bet is to stay home with some buddies and either split the cost or get an illegal stream.
that more bars aren't showing it. I would have thought it would be a great draw. The PPV people must be charging ass rape prices for so many sports bars to opt out.
EDIT: Apparently ass rape prices are being charged. I'm with Moe on this one.
Called BWW (2 in AA, 1 in Ypsi), Arena, and Banfields. None of them are showing it. The "Establishment" fee that the PPV charges to the bars has basically led all of them to stop showing fights.
rare that bars order boxing matches.
Hooters is showing it. I didn't know they still existed, but apparently they do and are all in on this fight. You just have to pay a $30 cover.
For the $30 cover, you apparently can reserve a seat, and you get an order of pickle chips and a $20 coupon. Not sure about all the details. Here's a link.
You get a giant helping of boobsinyoface.
Am I the only one here who isn't watching this fight at all and doesn't really care?
A man has better things to do?
Indeed
Can a Faceless Man really watch anything?
I think there are two kinds of people. People who love boxing, have followed these guys their whole careers and who really care about this fight, and people who have no interest at all. Don't think there is much middle ground.
You are not the only one. I have nothing against the fight. I used to know a Manny fan and was actually looking forward to if it happened when I talked to him years ago. But this excitement seems more media created than "how awesome it would be to actually watch" created.
Eh, I don't care that much, but even though I don't follow boxing closely, the significance of this fight is not lost on me. I am just not willing to pay the cost to watch it. But that's because I'm just cheap. I absolutely love UM football, but I'm unwilling to pay the $5 extra dollors for the B1G network. If there was a bar around me that was just charging like a $10 cover to watch it, I would do it.
The way boxing promotes itself reminds me a little bit of the Michigan AD under Brandon. It's like they can't envision any value beyond the right-now payoff of the next fight. How does boxing ever become popular if no one is able to watch it?
the thing though, people do watch it. All of Mayweather's Showtime fights made a killing, and this will break every pay per view record in the book. Even half the people who say they won't order will end up getting it. It will make a fortune.
I don't want to be just the next in a long history of exclaiming 'this is the last great fight ever'...but man, this may be the last great fight ever. True, this would have been a better fight like 4 years ago, but still, with popularity pugalisim declining (at least in America), you're just not going to see the talent in the ring anymore I don't think. So maybe now is the time to actually milk it for all it's worth?
Here's the problem with boxing, going all the way back to the Don King days. It's not the governing body that controls these fights, it's the promoters.
The thing about boxing promoters is that they assume all costs of the event, so they will do whatever it takes to make sure their payout is maximized and pay-per-view deals are the best way to do that.
A promoter doesn't care about what's best for the sport or even for their fighter. It's about them and that will never change.
EXCEPT for Mayweather and to a lesser extent Pacquiao. In their cases, they control the fights. Mayweather developed the model better than anyone: he controls everything, takes all the risk, reaps all the rewards. He even hires the promoter, not the other way around. He pays a fixed fee for everything and takes home every dollar above that. He even pays his opponents. That's why he makes such an incredible amount of money. And he can do it for the same reason that the promoters can control every other individual match - there is no central authority, no governing body worth a damn. The governing bodies just license titles and are for sale.
You are correct in general outside of the way Money does business. To say "...the way boxing promotes itself..." is just way off the mark. Boxing doesn't. Individual promoters and in a very few cases, individual boxers, promote themselves, and at least a few of them make a pile of money doing it.
Boxing has been losing popularity for a long time. This is probably the last big fight that will really have a major impact on the sports world.
There seems to be a lot of people on this board who are pissed off that it isn't common knowledge that Buffalo Wild Wings is not showing the fight.
is pissed about it. It has just came up in several conversations that Bdubs is, in fact, not showing this fight aside from EL and GR. And then later in the same thread, somebody will just jump in and be like "Dude, don't spend the money, just go to Bdubs, they will for sure have it." For people who want to see the fight, it is important for them to understand that they can't see it there.
I? In what way?
I feel happy.
Boxing PPV are much more costly than UFC or WWE PPV. Good luck though.
It looks like Detroit has a few venues showing the fight.

I hear Tempur-Pedic is showing the fight. They think its a good adverstising opportunity when Manny takes a nap!
Not A2 but I recommend heading to Twin Peaks Madison Heights. The Manager Cory is a UM guy and they have the fight for a $20 cover, but you get a $5 rebate off whatever you'd like I beileve.
I hope Manny makes that POS Mayweather eat his own teeth.
Wow what a deal dave & busters has a $70 package & $95. I mean for that price 3 people can order the fight at home and eat/drink like kings.
