OT: Alex Trebek passed away
Alex Trebek passed away this morning.
On mobile so no link but the internet promises me that it happened.
Of all the celebrity deaths in 2020 this one hits the hardest
RIP Alex

Hmm, I haven't seen anything about this. Hoping this is an insanely stupid rumor.
EDIT: it's true. Damn...

Thank God we still have Keith Jackson

This is so sad. We've been watching him many nights for years. He fought a really hard battle with cancer and did well to keep active until close to the end. I'd like Greatest game show host of all time, for a $1,000 Alex. RIP.

It's sad watching the gameshow host icons pass away. Outstanding personalities like Trebek, Barker, etc. to carry shows like that and give them proper entertainment value seem to be a relic of the past.

He will be missed. He was a class act.

What is "Why am I sad today?"
November 8th, 2020 at 12:55 PM ^
Oh man loved the guy and Jeopardy!
RIP Alex, you will be missed!

You can link things from your phone.

I know but I'm lazy
November 8th, 2020 at 12:56 PM ^
What is RIP?
November 8th, 2020 at 1:28 PM ^
Really Insane Pandas go by this acronym.
November 8th, 2020 at 12:58 PM ^
I'll take "The Worst Year Ever" for $1000.
November 8th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
Brutal. Best game show, best host.
RIP
November 8th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
And with that, there are literally no more human beings on earth that are universally loved.

Don’t sell yourself short

Until Betty White and Mel Brooks are gone we’ll have to agree to disagree

Aw, man. He's been part of my routine since after-school days in middle school. Tried so hard to get on the show for a couple years, did really well on the tests, but never got the call. Wish I'd gone as a studio audience guest before he passed.
Still the only trivia show worth a damn after all these years.

Very sad; legend - RIP
November 8th, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
RIP to the gentleman who is arguably the most respected and beloved game show host EVER.
May you forever be the question to the answer: "GOAT Game Show Host"
November 8th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
Jeebus. What next.
Rest in Peace fellow Canadian.

I imagine Trebek and Connery are kicked back with some scotch watching SNL Celebrity Jeopardy on the other side.
November 8th, 2020 at 2:22 PM ^
I just spent 90 minutes of my life watching the fictional intersection of Trebek and Connery and I have no regrets.
November 8th, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Not surprising given his bout with cancer, but still a loss. RIP. 2020 couldn't end fast enough.
November 8th, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
What is surprising (to me) is that he lived this long after a stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis in March 2019 (!). I thought he might've died within a few months.
November 8th, 2020 at 1:52 PM ^
I had the extreme privilege to be a contestant for an episode several years ago. This makes me sad.
November 8th, 2020 at 1:54 PM ^
I'll take Things that are Room Temperature for $1,000 Alex.
Loved that show. Kind of eerie that I was watching SNL Celebrity Jeopardy on youtube last night. RIP.
November 8th, 2020 at 1:58 PM ^
So much suck to this weekend. RIP Mr. Trebek.
November 8th, 2020 at 3:57 PM ^
I just went through so many of those old SNL celebrity jeopardy Connery-Trebek skits after Sean died last week ?
November 8th, 2020 at 8:40 PM ^
Hope the show will carry on his legacy. Will be impossible to replace though.
November 8th, 2020 at 8:56 PM ^
He was diagnosed just weeks before my wife's Stage 4 Liver cancer diagnosis in April of 2019. My wife passed away June 6 of this year. I totally understand what his family is going through.
This is the worst year in my 56 years on this planet.

I was hired to produce a tribute on Alex in March for an awards show, The show was canceled due to COVID but here is the tribute. He was a remarkable guy and as authentic as they come ~
