OSU loses probable starting weak-side LB

Submitted by Erik_in_Dayton on
OSU has lost their probable starting weak-side linebacker, Tyler Moeller. He's likely out for the season. An OSU-loving friend of mine tells me that he supposedly got in a bar fight at his grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary, oddly enough, and later had a seizure in Ohio. He's since had brain surgery. This link provides some of that detail: http://www.sportingnews.com/college-football/article/2009-08-10/ohio-st… So, there's that bizarre nugget. Hopefully the guy is alright, even if he is a Buckeye.

So how does the bar fight play into the seizure? That sucks though, I hope he is alright, my carpool driver in HS had one in practice once and it turned out to be a brain tumor from cancer.

hard to see a guy getting cleared to play anytime soon after a seizure. I'm still surprised McGuffie kept getting cleared after all the concussions. Best of luck to him though, and I hope he does make a full recovery.

Reason #432 to walk away from trouble at a bar fight. Even if you're a big guy like this who can take care of himself you can experience a life-altering injury. This guy isn't the first to get brain damage hitting his head on the floor.

Anything going wrong inside your skull is a very serious situation. Hopefully he recovers quickly/fully. I had a scare several years ago where doctors thought I had an aneurism. Scary stuff. (Doctors ended up saying they thought it was exercise migranes... best condition ever?)

player will always get my sympathy in situations like this. Whether it is an injury on the field or off of it, my hatred of the Buckeyes has never entered that sort of level. I hate to see any of these young men have any type of injury occur to them. I hope the best for this kid.

This especially sucks for him because no matter how deranged it sounds, what a Buckeye really wants to do is start for that goon squad they call a team. He may never get his chance for the reward for all his work, now.

Moeller update: May be released today. Also, this person was confident that Moeller will play football again, it's just a question of when.

wow, I hope all goes well in his recovery. I hate to hear about stuff like this because it can maybe end a career of someone. Even though hes a buckeye, it sounds like he was just an unlucky victim of a drunk guy confusing someone for someone else.

The story on ESPN says that he didn't even provoke his attacker! Some people are nuts. You hate to see that happen to anyone. I hope that he has a full recovery and can get back on the field soon.
