I was wondering about this because in the press conference Hoke said they may need to appeal for a medical redshirt. Does that mean NCAA sometimes makes exception to the 30% of the season rule?

Huge bummer, hopefully he rehabs well and can come back better than ever. Hate to see him lose out on any development, but next year was his year anyway.

Silver lining (if there is any for an injury) is that if we had to lose our #2 option at any defensive position, NT was proobably the one to do it. Washington is very good, and the games that are most likely to threaten our defense (NW, Neb, OSU) wouldn't see very much of the NT anyway. I could see us moving Henry over to NT for the rest of the season and be pretty much fine.

It sucks, but I guess every team goes through stuff like this and one can only expect a speedy recovery.  Will be interesting to see how Mattison compensates, though, as teams like MSU and OSU will undoubtedly try to establish inside running even more and try to wear down what looks to be basically Washington and, I guess, Ash.

Thankfully, Washington is the starter and Ash has game experience. Black/HenryGlasgow should provide well enough dept for the other position that Washington/Ash can get the job done.

Also, I hope Ryan comes back just as good, if not better than before so Beyer can move back down to the line and provide depth there as well.

Wasn't either Heitzman/Wormley/Strobel a NT/DT before? I thought one of them was a tackle size that could still flip-flop back to inside if they HAD to.

This absolutely sucks. I feel for Pipkins as he was really making some strides, I thought, this year. I hope he can get a medical-redshirt, but more importantly, a complete recovery. This guy is a HUGE piece to our D-line moving forward.

The only silver lining I can see out of this is that Poggi and Henry get to step in more (Assuming Poggi isn't redshirting).

Such a Blow! Get well soon, Pipkins!

doing the Lachman test on his knee, which is never a good sign since all it tests for is a torn ACL.

I feel bad for him. Here's hoping he recovers quickly and without any problems.

Q Wash will probably have to suck it up and take more snaps, with Ash spelling him as needed instead of a true rotation like with Pipkins. I think Henry sticks at 3 tech since Black should be lifted for a bigger body in short yardage situations.
