Charbonnet looking like Reggie Bush out there
September 4th, 2021 at 11:30 PM ^
Damn okay now it does hurt a little that we lost Charbonnet
September 4th, 2021 at 11:33 PM ^
Nah, ZC is looking really good but I don't think his production and the production of UM's RB's will be much different at the end of the year.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:40 PM ^
Yeah I have no complaints about Haskins/Corum as the thunder & lightning so far, and it's nice to see Charbonnet shine even if it's not for us.
Though I do miss the days of an embarrassment-of-riches backfield (like Wheatley, Powers, Jesse Johnson, Ed Davis in '92)
September 4th, 2021 at 11:45 PM ^
LOL, I know. I guess we over recruited at RB! I mean, who's carries do you give him? It's just the way it goes. As long as Corum and/or Haskins continue kicking ass, it actually increases my enjoyment of college football by giving me more to watch.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:31 PM ^
Would ya look at that...LSU's defense getting sliced up by crossing routes...
September 4th, 2021 at 11:43 PM ^
I don't know if anyone caught that defending of Don Brown.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
That #85 TE for UCLA is old school!
September 4th, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
as a UTSA student I'm absolutely living it up after beating Illinois. I think we'll be pretty great this year.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:34 PM ^
LSU definitely not their typical defensive juggernaut status. Dline and secondary are downgrades from the past decade. Could also be an issue of shitty.Cajun Hoke coaching.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:37 PM ^
I think that is precisely it. People kinda wrote off how atrocious LSU was last year defensively as just weird covid year, but that is looking like a trend. They literally had the worst numbers in school history on D last year.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:44 PM ^
I got to thinking about how Ida, back home for these guys, could be affecting them and their states of mind but as you state, and not to downplay the aforementioned, this is a trend that actually started last "season".
September 4th, 2021 at 11:39 PM ^
Old friends update:
Brady Hoke currently losing, 10-0, to FBS Independent New Mexico State.
Jedd Fisch and Don Brown tied at 0 with BYU.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:44 PM ^
TIL Darrell Funk is BYU’s o-line coach.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:58 PM ^
San Diego State is looking beyond horrible thus far. They are also making a whole bunch of cheap shots, back-to-back late hit personal fouls while on offense.
They're playing NMSU, so, they'll probably still rally and win, but yeesh.
Not helpful that they are playing their home games this year in Los Angeles County (Carson). Attendance looks like it's in the low 4 figures.

That's over 100 miles away! Nothing closer was available?!
September 5th, 2021 at 12:24 AM ^
But that 100+ mile drive is so easy. Never any traffic, ever. (eye roll)
The Padres won't allow SDSU to use Petco, but they will allow this year's version of the Holiday Bowl to be played there. That was SDSU's preferred option, but not to be.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:27 AM ^
Well, there is a bit of a difference between having football played on your field every other Saturday while your season is going on, vs. one game at the end of December.
September 5th, 2021 at 9:57 AM ^
Didn't the Padres used to do that with the Chargers? And the Raiders and the A's in Oakland?
September 4th, 2021 at 11:43 PM ^
I think UCLA might be the best team in the PAC.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:47 PM ^
I haven't seen anyone else, but they appear to be making a case.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:44 PM ^
I think Coach Ed is about to be the first HC to win a NC and then get fired only 3-4 years later. LSU is not going to put up with their defense being atrocious multiple years in a row.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:45 PM ^
Gene Chizik enters the chat
September 4th, 2021 at 11:46 PM ^
Touche, stand corrected. Both not great coaches propped up by incredible QB years, so definitely some parallels there.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:06 AM ^
Auburn might as well have fired Chizik as soon as Cam Newton left campus
September 4th, 2021 at 11:45 PM ^
Not so fast my friend!
See: Gene Chizik
September 4th, 2021 at 11:47 PM ^
Coker managed it in 5 (4 if the '02 title game was well officiated).
September 4th, 2021 at 11:58 PM ^
Chizik and Urban lasted just 2 yrs after winning NCs - so Orgeron would have to go after this season. Mack Brown and Jumbo lasted 4 yrs.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:19 AM ^
Did Larry Coker retire or get fired?
September 5th, 2021 at 12:30 AM ^
He was interviewing for other jobs a month later, so I'm pretty sure his retirement was unintentional.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:44 PM ^
Have we mentioned that Gameday is headed to El Assico? Because ye gods.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:48 PM ^
I mean...it is a helluva matchup. Early season especially but a huge game is on the line. Can Campbell finally beat Iowa and truly compete for a playoff spot out of...AMES, IOWA.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:51 PM ^
But it's El Assico. It's always bad (but hilarous).
September 5th, 2021 at 12:04 AM ^
Looks like ISU struggled quite a bit with Northern Iowa today. Granted, UNI is one of those half-dozen FCS programs that you shouldn't schedule under any circumstances.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:06 AM ^
And whenever two teams from Iowa play each other, it becomes just a complete tirefire of a game.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:45 PM ^
I love when Chip Kelly goes to an unbalanced line to fook with defenses. I'm surprised more teams don't do that with tempo.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:46 PM ^
It doesn’t seem to matter who runs the ball for UCLA there getting chunk plays vs this bad LSU D
September 4th, 2021 at 11:49 PM ^
This is Chip Kelly's version of a body blows offense. UCLA is wearing down LSU's defense.
I hope Kelly makes UCLA into a west coast power.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:18 AM ^
LSU's defense was sucking air there.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:51 PM ^
That play should knock Stingley out of the first round, ye gods.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:52 PM ^
LSU fans better savor that NC because man it is not going to be pretty for them the next couple of years.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:53 PM ^
Poor effort at tackling from LSU's best player. Sure of a sign as any of very bad coaching.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:54 PM ^
ALL DA LULZ!
This LSU defense is not a vintage LSU defense.
Can you believe Ed Orgeron didn't think Dave Aranda was that great of a DC simply because Aranda played his version of a 3-4? (Ed O is a 4-3 guy.)
Ed Orgeron believed LSU's defense would get better by hiring Bo Pelini to run a 4-3. LSU and Ed O got a rude awakening when it had the worst defense in school history without Aranda as DC.
Ed "Cajun Hoke" Orgeron lucked into one of the greatest combinations of NFL talent + coaching in modern college football history.
Joe Brady transformed the offense into an absolute juggernaut. But without him there, LSU looks like a 1 year wonder.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:59 PM ^
Yeah. Orgeron is just not a good coach. I'm predicting 4 more losses on their schedule this year: Florida, @Ole Miss, @Bama, Texas A&M. Auburn might be a toss-up. 7-5 or 6-6. They will not end the year in the top-25.
September 4th, 2021 at 11:57 PM ^
We're good with Haskins/Corum/Edwards, but it's nice to see Charbonnet doing well again tonight, this time against LSU.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:00 AM ^
One of those rare situations where both parties can be happy.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:15 AM ^
It's like Burrow leaving OSU for LSU and still good with a Fields.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:01 AM ^
We've officially entered #PAC12AfterDark territory. We've endured so much, but we're here.
September 5th, 2021 at 12:08 AM ^
Things are getting weird in Pullman. Utah State up 5-3 on Washington State, but USU just had an inexplicable fumble and turnover. WSU already on their second QB. And Bob Davie is on the call, like it's ESPN c. 1998.
