Ok I'm done

I have been an RR supporter from the beginning and a strident critic of the old guard mentality. But we are officially a garbage team with a garbage coach. Our ceiling is now 7-8 wins and RR has had enough time to create better. He clearly can't do better. It's time to move on I know I will be negged to hell fr this but I don't care. This is an embarrassment and the RR era needs to end now.

Has Ohio State adopted this new standard for success the last decade or so?  They seem to stuck in the old outdated mindset  of winning league championships and racking up 10 win seasons.

College Football is more balanced then ever, I'll give you that.  But you can't deny that Michigan football isn't going to be anything but a middle of pack program with a cool brand unless we collectively demand excellence.

I have no clue when it is reasonable to demand wins against good conference teams.  In light of how bad we looked for large stretches of the game today, it is fine to give the more critical posters the benefit of the doubt.

We just beat Iowa in every statistical catergory except penalties and turnovers.  We're a good team, but one that still makes too many mistakes.  We have good schemes, we have talented players, we just need some fine tuning.

If we have 2 turnovers instead of 4, we win.  Maybe even 3.  Also, if a couple of Lewan's drive killing penatlies don't happen, we might be tied at the end as well.

We put together a good game, but had some big mistakes.  Against a team that most thought we'd lose anyway.

You really think that if Iowa wasn't up 21 points they would have ran up the middle every down for 3 drives?  Do you also think Iowa wouldn't have had more yards if we didn't give them amazing field position all day?   I can't believe we're stooping to the point of taking moral victories.  We lost.

Michigan St stung but how people didn't expect this from the Iowa game? Iowa is a very good team filled with upper classmen.

My concern is the offense just looks lost all of a sudden. They keep running Smith (OUT OF THE I-Formation no less) and now Denard just seems lost. Then Tate comes in and almost saves the game. So honestly I am confused.

Is Tate "the guy" again? Was Denard hurt and out or was he pulled for lack of play.

You can see the brilliance of this offense here and there. But the lack of consistancy and focas....the program just seems like a mess. Like they have no actual direction.

Is it just me, but I dont think our D was that bad,  Yeah bad, but it's really special teams.  They are not coached well or at all.  You can't do anything about the D, but special teams.  Come on.  what's the reason there, too young.

Oh, f***ing great, a whole two weeks of this shit.  Awesome.

I'm sure there is plenty of room on Michigan State's bandwagon, better hop on that one before it's too late.

my ears for a couple of weeks. I wonder what it is like, all that climbing on, jumping off, and wandering alone in the wilderness until another likely looking wagon rolls by. There seem to be friends. One can see them, one can read the blather. It looks like a haven. It is not, those people will leave you as fast as they leave the team.

After watching this game, how can you not be excited at the possibilities? Yes, there are problems. Yes, I'd like to see a better defense, and fewer mistakes. If nothing else, let us hope young Mr. Lewan learned something today. Personally, I would prefer to teach him how to channel his anger than to try to teach agression to someone who is passive. I know that in the worlds some people live in, all the high school players are perfect when they arrive. Somehow, I can't live that way, so I go through life dumb and happy.

Hey, I haven't given up just yet, but 4-15 is his Big Ten record.  You really can't deny it's not working.    And yes, they need to actually beat a good team here or there and that has yet to happen.

His Michigan career hangs in the balance against a weak Penn State team in two weeks, if they lose that game  - he's done.

Hang in the balance and all that is overly dramatic, but 4-15 is what it is.  At a certain point, the excuses for not winning will have to be replaced by wins. This poster  probably has reached that point.  Many like you haven't yet.  That patience is admirable and I am in agreement with you.

Bottom line: you have no evidence he isn't supporting the team from his post..

offensively, we are ok

defensively, some changes have to be made, the coaching staff ( greg robinson - you gotta go ) scheme ( the 3-3-5 won't work in the big ten ) and recruiting ( the linebackers, corners and safties all need upgrades )

As for RR, if he does not address this, he will not be here by the end of 2011, that is for sure.

try that one more time. All I heard was DERRRRRRRRRRRRP.

To clarify: We lost by 10 to a highly ranked team. We had 520 yards of offense. We made some critical mistakes, but there's no POSSIBLE way you blame Rodriguez for this loss.

Our offense just moved the ball in the air and on the ground against one of the best defenses in the country. The loss hurts, especially with all the unforced errors, but we now know that our offense can move it and score on anyone in the B10.

Like w/o penalties and turnovers we're alright.  I just kind of think that penalties and turnovers are reflective of the coach, so I don't really see that as a good defense to the OP in this thread.  Yes, I know we're young, blah, blah, wait till next year or wait till 2012 (for newer excuses perhaps?).  I'm just saying, we lost, stop making excuses.  Their D forced us into some tough spots that we weren't prepared for.

Look, we all want RR to succeed.  I think what everyone is overlooking here is how much blood, sweat, and tears was put into making M what we are today.  The past 40 years of excellence have created the passion for M football that we all have.  That is what is in danger here.  Do you realize how hard it is to bring it back when it is lost?  We are pretty close to that edge right now.  Will Dave Brandon take notice when fewer than 100k are in the seats at some point?

You did the best job I have seen in stating a legitimate reason for impatience with what is going on under Rich.

I have questions about what the product will look like when we have experience and depth across board. It is very hard to say whether or not it will be successful enough to satisfy the fan base.

Here's my unsolicited outside perspective (not a UM fan):

You have no reason to be jumping off a cliff.

MSU and Iowa are two very good teams and most Big Ten teams will lose to them or have already lost to them. Everyone was underrating MSU early on, and Iowa is as good as expected. No shame in losing to two top 15 teams, especially not the Iowa one, in which you fought back and made a game of it vs. one of the top defenses in the country.

Iowa was a game that almost everyone (including UM fans) expected Michigan to lose. MSU was probably considered a toss-up early in the season, but that's before everyone realized that MSU was legit (the double-digit win vs. Wisconsin sure looks nice).

So, at 5-2, UM is still doing as well as--or better than--expected and has only lost to two top 15 teams.

The true tests for this Michigan team are @PSU and vs. Illinois. One (PSU) is very talented but depleted and young. The other (Illinois) is underrated and has a very good defense. They're both winnable games, but not gimmies.
