Odds: Michigan by 7

Minnesota favored by 4 over Illinois

Wisconsin favored by 4 over Michigan St.

Alabama vs Tennessee, and Oklahoma St vs. TCU, both on in the late afternoon, might be great games.

I still have no idea how good PSU is. They struggled against NW, their game against CMU was close until the 2nd half, and I'm not convinced Auburn is remotely good and that is their marquee win. Clifford is still kinda an enigma at QB, but they seem to have a good running game and their defense seems to be solid

I’m with you. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the NW game. It poured rain nearly the entire first half and the field was absolutely soaked. PSU had five turnovers, four fumbles. NW had three as well. NW also dropped a couple of easy picks and their QB slipped on 4th and goal or he would’ve scored a td, so who knows how that game plays out in good weather.

I still don’t think PSU is a top ten team, but I’m not sure I can name ten teams that look like top ten teams. Everyone is beatable this year. We might need a FG at the end of the game to win or we could blast them by 30. I have no idea.

That is not “inconceivably bad.”  In fact, he had one of his better games of the season against Michigan, for whatever that’s worth.

I’ll give you some context. I listened to some of the Iowa / Illinois game last night, wherein the Iowa broadcaster opined that Petras “looked pretty sharp” because of his halftime stats: 10/19 for 126 yards passing.  He had a 97 passer rating, which was called “pretty good.” (On the NFL scale, it absolutely is.  On the NCAA scale, < 100 is pretty bad for a P5 QB).

The standards at Iowa have been lowered dramatically; defenses really can game plan for Petras not being able to make throws.  Petras is one of the poorest passers in the Big Ten.  At no point in the Iowa game was the outcome in doubt.

I don't know, I just know what I saw. One play, there was a TE going up the seam, uncovered, and the ball must have been 6 feet over his head. A good pass, and the TE may have got to the 10, or farther. Iowa's offense is ranked #131 out of 131. Michigan really should have blew them off the field. Hopefully this Saturday we'll get a game with no doubts in the air.

correction: #121

ahh, edit:

Correction again,

Pass is at #121

Rush is at #127

i.e., it's possible the run game is worse than the pass game. either way, they need some new offensive coaches.

That is the Iowa QB though. It's how he plays ALL THE TIME. It's not like we got lucky and the game should've been closer. And Iowa's defense is really good. They totally bottled up a good Illinois team on the road.

I feel like, well, it's largely dependant on scheme. The players are certainly capable of going off, but at times it feels like they're playing with one arm behind their backs, ie: attacking the outside early against Indiana, who live on tempo and wr screens, followed by stacking boxes later, instead of beating them up in the middle early and wearing them out, then attacking outside to effect.

USC's down-to-down numbers suggest they aren't a top 10 team, particularly on defense, where they have a hugely favorable turnover margin which isn't sustainable.  USC also won their road game at Oregon St by 3, a team Utah beat by 26.  Utah at home implies these teams are about even at a neutral site.

Agree and all of the talk has been about Alabama, OSU, UM, etc......on this board but the forgotten team is Tennessee. I've watched them play and, believe me, they're legit. A win this week against Alabama and they'll definitely shoot up into the top 2 or 3 just because of who they just beat

We'll need to have 60 minutes of the type of football played in the final 30 minutes against IU. If our guys can do that, they'll roll!

Roman Wilson is out of concussion protocol which means he should be practicing all this week and be ready for Saturday. Donovan was off a little against IU so we'll need his A-Game and if so, the offense will be in good shape. JJ needs to be the best QB on the field.

I'd love to see our pass rush against Clifford. They need to hurry him and sack him. One or two INTs would be great. (Just my wish list here)

I was figuring something closer to 11-12 given PSUs recent general history in Ann Arbor.  The 2018 game started at 10.5 and ended at 13.5.

Over/under for Saturday is 51.5.  At a first pass, that feels high.
