Now with Deboer to Alabama Being Reported. The 2024 Schedule looks a lot easier

Washington loses Penix and DeBoer. USC is regressing, Oregon is at home. Texas loses Ad Mitchell, Ja’Tavion Sanders, and Xavier Worthy. OSU will be our biggest competition for the big ten title. If JJ comes back I can see us going 11-1.

This is tough one.  With the size of conferences - and the money of a CCG - how can conference champions be determined without a CCG?

I completely agree that 16 is too many games.  And, if your team loses a CCG, is seeded 5 though 12, and you reach the NC game - it will be a 17 game season.

They should have had an 8 team playoff (not 12).

Yeah, kicking the ass of those whiny bitches (coach and AD, not players or fans) was great.   I'll be interested to see if it will still be Michigan they go to Teeny Tipetty about, tall ear-streaked and snot-nosed, begging him to do something RIGHT NOW lest M win the Big Ten, or if they will pick a team on their schedule to stain their diapers over.

Bear Bryant retired as coach of Alabama in 1982. It took 25 years for a coach to step in and make people forget about coach Bryant. The list of eight (8) coaches between the two (including Mike Price?) had an average tenure of about 3 years.

That list includes some good ones (1 championship) and a lot that failed. Alabama fans are not easily going to forget Saban. He is the GOAT of college coaches. A very, very tough act to follow.

IMO Washington isnt in a position to hire a first time head coach. Coming into the Big Ten after losing most of their productive players means they will need a head coach with experience to rebuild and hold the program together. Jedd Fisch is the perfect guy especially if he brings along Fifita.

The Buckeyes will be a load next year along with Oregon, and the game is at The Shoe.  They are copying our blueprint in re bringing back everyone, except Miata Marv, and that KSU QB looks pretty good.  Beating them next year would definitely be the sweetest one of them all.

Oregon will be a load.  They have loaded up big time. But hopefully with Nix gone they won't have the QB they need.  Also don't forget annoying PSU with Allar back, and perhaps a real offense now that they nixed their crap OC.

"My time here at the University of Texas has been filled with highs, lows, lessons, and blessings," Worthy said in an Instagram video. "All of them are part of my journey and who I am today. I will be eternally grateful to those who have always believed in and supported me. My mom, family, day 1s coaches football brothers, and real fans. To play the sport I love at this level with some of the most talented guys in the game is a blessing I don't take for granted, and I will continue to be thankful for."

"With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft."

The bonus to this coaching circus is that now all of these 30 day transfer portals are opening. Washington and Alabama right now. Once Washington hires someones coach then that schools portal will open. Perfect timing for Michigan who missed the first portal

Michigan played both of these teams too so hopefully some players from each team maybe want to come over.

Not sure I was worried about Washington next year even with DeBoer. They lose a lot and we already beat them to a pulp.

I'm more worried about Texas and Oregon, and mildly OSU in Columbus.

Gotta say i hardly care at all what's going on at other teams. Our success next year will be far more dependent on who our coaches are and which players return.

I love your optimism, but even with all of those changes it's still the most difficult schedule in the history of college football.

Does that mean we won't make the playoff?  Not at all.  But it means I'm really happy the playoff is expanded next year.

The returning experience on defense give us a floor of, IMO, ~8 wins (Fresno St, Ark St, Minnesota, Illinois, MSU, Indiana, NW, Wash). If JJ comes back I think we have the edge against USC and Oregon at home. If Harbaugh comes back I would favor us against Texas and OSU as well. No gimmes in those four marquee match-ups, though.
