Louisville making a very good case to vault right into the top 4 after today. Maybe even leapfrog us.

This game is already over. I'm not sure if FSU didn't show up today or if Louisville is just that good, but this game is flat out over.

and wins by a wide margin, they should probably be ranked in the top three.  I'm all about on-field results.  We'll have the opportunity to move back up as we face better teams.  But I wouldn't object to anyone that voted them ahead of us after this game.  This would probably be the best win anyone has had so far.

Clemson has looked iffy so far, and as impressive as Houston has been I'm not sure they are better than Louisville.  It's going to be interesting to watch this team going forward.

I don't think anyone wants a piece of Louisville right now. They are going to win the ACC. Monster showdown with Clemson whenever they play

So had to go look it up:

Section 2 of the NCAA rule book:

Timing Adjustments
ARTICLE 2. Before the game starts, playing time and the intermission
between halves may be shortened by the referee if he is of the opinion that
darkness or other conditions may interfere with the game. The four periods
must be of equal length if the game is shortened before its start.
a. Any time during the game, the playing time of any remaining period
or periods and the intermission between halves may be shortened by
mutual agreement of the opposing head coaches and the referee. (A. R.
3-2-2-I)

Who has a more impressive win than this?  Houston over Oklahoma is the only thing that comes close, but something tells me you don't think they belong in the top five either.

At some point, on-field results have to count for more than preseason expectations, don't they?  Saying Louisville doesn't deserve to be in the top five would be like saying FSU doesn't deserve to drop out of it.

NDSU's better than any of Michigan's non-conference opponents. The short roster might catch up with them over the course of the season but I think they'd have a chance to win the West.

I'm not sure they're better than Colorado.  We'll find out shortly.

And I don't think they'd have a chance over the course of a full season in the west.  They could most definitely upset a team or two, but they don't have the high end talent and depth to pull it off week after week.

Iowa always does this.  We knew it would happen before it happened.  NDSU is better than a lot of FBS teams, but they're not good enough IMO to consistently perform at the level necessary to defeat 7-8-9 Big 10 teams over the course of a season.
