New Uniform Hot Takes
Thoughts on the new digs? I was skpetical when they were announced, but I actually think it's my favorite road kit since the early 2000s. The stripes provide enough color, the helmets pop out against the all-white, and the maize was just right.
This is blasphemy around these parts, but...well done Adidas!

Woudl've been a lot cooler if we won.
...I don't really have an opinion. They're fine I suppose.
Way to slip in a soccer reference.

Alright alright...

Looked good. I like the maize.

Maize was way too dark. Michigan overcompensated from last year. Highlighter pops on HD TV. This look like Iowa.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:20 AM ^
I was skeptical at first but after seeing them on the field, I am a fan. My only gripe is wishing the jersey numbers were thinly outlined in matching maize.
September 4th, 2015 at 1:29 PM ^
Same thoughts. I realize that they were going for a true throwback though, so the plain numbers are more historically accurate.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:21 AM ^
well done Adidas!
My guess is it had more to do with the AD or Harbaugh saying "this is what we're doing, make them exactly like this." But who knows, maybe Adidas actually didn't screw up for once.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:26 AM ^
It's 100% on the AD who can veto garbage (and if that's not a part of the deal, it's on the AD for screwing that up too). The uniforms were great (and, actually we throwbacks). The previous uniformz nonsense was all on Brandon, about whom there are no nice things to say.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:36 AM ^
That maybe Adidas was given too much blame for all the things they came up with, since, it seems, they were mostly trying to serve the wants of the client, in this case DB.
September 4th, 2015 at 11:17 AM ^
Judging from Endzone, the stupid uniforms were always Brandons ideas... The story about the bumblebee uniforms still pisses me off
September 4th, 2015 at 10:21 AM ^
Looked great. Would look better with maize pants.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:23 AM ^
I am a fan of the all whites and darker maize.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:23 AM ^
I thought they looked really nice. Definitely an improvement over the last few away jerseys.
That being said, would love to see that top with the new correctly colored Maize pants.
September 4th, 2015 at 12:25 PM ^
can't understand why the shades of maize in the uniform aren't matching? That has always peeved me a bit.
September 5th, 2015 at 1:32 AM ^
who the f-cares about uni colors? Let's win a football gam.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:24 AM ^
They grew on me.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:25 AM ^
would look all LSUy, but they looked pretty good.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:49 AM ^
Agreed, I was concerned about the same thing

But my favorite road uniforms ever are still the late-90s and early-2000s ones. They're still clean and simple, but the maize pants provide a nice balance to the blue helmets.
The current ones feel a little top-heavy since the helmet is the only significant color in the uniform.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:37 AM ^
hose are my second favorite away unis. The 80's away unis are my first:
September 4th, 2015 at 10:43 AM ^
I love these. Last night's maize seemed a little too dark/orangish to me. But, as the game progressed, the color wore on me a bit. Maybe my eyes just aren't adjusted since my freshmen year (2006) was right in the midst of the Nike highlightering.
I still think I like brighter maize - like that Tom Brady picture. But, I'm not really complaining. There were no bumblebee stripes. There were no other crazy weird things. They were clean and simple. Now, just win.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:51 AM ^
And now I go and look at pictures from the game and the maize from last night looks brighter and similar to the pictures above. Just goes to show, so much of our opinions are dependent on TV/CPU monitor settings, processing of photos, etc. Then you go and think about individuals rods and cones and blue/white dresses and who the fuck is anyone to say what is and isn't right!
September 4th, 2015 at 11:46 AM ^
The maize is now IMO too dark. They have compensated too much.
I hated the highlighter maize look that we had shifted to, but I think we have overcompensated back too much in the other direction now. Of course, My preference is for the late 80's 1990's Maize, and who knows exactly what that is or if it even was completely consistent.
September 4th, 2015 at 4:01 PM ^
Is far and away my favorite road uniform. Do it, Do it now.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:28 AM ^
The best part is that they make the helmet really stand out as the number one element--which is appropriate.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:29 AM ^
I loved the maize. What annoyed me is the coaches/non-players attire. If you noticed they had the new maize on their shirts and the highlighter maize on their hats. I want consistency.
September 4th, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
What I'm saying is, no other team is going to come out with two different colors for their main color. I liked the maize that they had, and I'm not even picky about the maize of old I just want it to be one color across the board. It looks ridiculous for a major college program to be wearing different shades of the same color at the same time.
September 4th, 2015 at 5:13 PM ^
Agreed. It looks ametureish.
September 4th, 2015 at 11:14 AM ^
Good thing you arnt a spartan fan then. 500 shades of green in the stands
September 4th, 2015 at 3:49 PM ^
I'm not talking about the stands, I expect that. I'm talking about on the sidelines. look at Harbaugh's maize on his shirt and then the maize on his hat.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:29 AM ^
They looked pretty good. Loved the color of the maize in the stripes. Now just use that color for maize pants.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:32 AM ^
It's not a kit!!!!!!!
September 4th, 2015 at 10:55 AM ^
Did not realize that term was sport-specific. Noted.
September 4th, 2015 at 4:52 PM ^
It's not sport-specific. It's British.
Americans say "unfiorms".
September 4th, 2015 at 10:33 AM ^
I was initially against it because I always thought the mid-70's Michigan away unis looked dumpy and high-schoolish. I've long favored our '80's away unis as the look we should go for.
That being said, I thought they looked pretty damn sweet. Widen the shoulder and pants stripes a little and you have a winner.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:33 AM ^
We need maize pants.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:33 AM ^
They were fine. I like that they're a true throw back...prefer traditional maize pants by quite a bit, but its fine for a year.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:46 AM ^
My thoughts exactly

I loved the uniforms. Thankfully, we canned Adidas
:)
September 4th, 2015 at 10:45 AM ^
Adidas is still making the uniforms this year.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:54 AM ^
I think you missed the joke...
September 4th, 2015 at 10:43 AM ^
I like the jersery more than the pants. Love the darker (correct) shade of maize. Pants in that maize along with those white jerseys would have been spectacular.
September 4th, 2015 at 10:47 AM ^
Everyone's entitled to their color preference, but saying one is "correct" is not very accurate in the historical Michigan sense. It's evolved over time and there have been numerous "official" shades of Maize. Everyone's welcome to their preference, but when you say one is correct, it's almost implying that someone who likes a different shade is wrong and somehow less of a fan or something.
September 4th, 2015 at 11:21 AM ^
I reworded it so I don't unintentionally hurt anyone's feelings.
I like the jersey more than the pants. Love the darker (correct ;-) ) shade of maize. Pants in that maize along with those white jerseys would have been spectacular.
September 4th, 2015 at 11:40 AM ^
Look at the official Michigan website... it is correct or at least more correct than ever before exception of the Desmond years (his uniforms were also dark maize like last night)
September 4th, 2015 at 11:50 AM ^
Most likely Desmond's uniforms were the same as every other from the 80's thorugh the early 00's and the shots you are referring to where his helmet looks really orangy-yellow are a result of how the photos were processed.
September 4th, 2015 at 5:14 PM ^
No. They were not.
